Guest Author and Giveaway with Wynter Daniels

Today I am thrilled to have guest author Wynter Daniels, who is here today to celebrate her release today from Carina Press.......
PROTECTIVE CUSTODY!!

So, enjoy the interview and don't forget to answer Wynter's question below for a chance to win a ebook copy of Protective Custody. My review will be up tomorrow, so don't forget to come back here and comment for extra points!

If someone were writing a story about Wynter Daniels what would your blurb say?

After quitting a dead-end job, Wynter jumped head first into the world of romance writing armed with only a computer and a file full of story ideas. She worked night and day to crank out book after book, all while juggling her duties as a house wench. After twenty plus releases, she still hadn't come close to her goals of fame and fortune. Will she prevail? You'll have to read the book (all of them;-) to find out.

Can you tell us a little about your newest release, Protective Custody that isn't in the blurb?
Protective Custody is a story with a lot going on. Not only is there a hot romance and a suspense plot line, but there are also subplots involving human trafficking, family obligations and class differences.

What was your inspiration behind the creation of Protective Custody?
When I was growing up, my sisters and I always imagined someone was breaking into our house while our parents were out. Any noise became suspect and we even went so far as to call the police once. Well, we got a reputation for sounding false alarms until one day, our house really was broken into when our folks were out. We weren't hurt and everything came out okay, but the neighbors thought we were just imagining things again -- at first! That frustration of knowing something bad had happened and no one believing you was the inspiration behind this story.

What was your favorite scene to write in Protective Custody?
My favorite scenes to write are always the first, when I'm setting up everything that comes after, then the last when I am wrapping it all up with a big bow!

What accent is sure to make you swoon?
Definitely Australian. Absolutely love me some Aussie.

What was the most challenging thing you’ve done in the name of research that might have been out of your comfort zone?
Believe it or not, the hardest thing was to research gourmet recipes when I was writing a book about two chefs. I was on a super strict diet at the time and my mouth was watering as I wrote about pastries and rich sauces and the like.

Please share with us something that readers would be surprised to learn about you.
Although I write pretty spicy books with and use some very naughty words and phrases, you would never hear those words and phrases come out of my mouth. I was once asked to do a reading from one of my books and they wanted me to read a very erotic scene. I barely got though it and I'm sure my face was beet-red by time I'd finished!

How can the readers stay in touch with you online?
Many, many ways. My website, blog, Facebook Fan Page, Twitter, my Harlequin Author Blog, or group blogs - Naughty Author Chicks or Not Your Usual Suspects or sign up for my Yahoo newsletter group.

Favorites List… fill in the blank
Favorite City - Charleston, SC. Love all the history and ambiance.
Favorite Romance book of all time (your go to book you can read over and over again) - Dead Sexy by Tate Hallaway. I'm a sucker for a chick lit style light paranormal romance.
Favorite type of hero - Tough question. I'd have to say Alpha, although I do enjoy some sensitive Beta heroes too.
Favorite Quote - I love so many by Mae West. Probably my favorite is "Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before."

If you could ask readers any one question, what would it be?
I'd want to know what they love most in a book. There's nothing more satisfying for an author than to give readers what they want and for them to tell you how much they loved it.

Thanks for having me here today - this was fun!

House wench to successful romance author. It should be a movie!

As for what I as a reader love the most in a book...inevitably it is always the romance. I love the mystery. I love the suspense, but at the end of the book, it is the romance that I walk away with still thinking about.

I'm with you there, Maureen. It's all boils down to the romance for me.

I love a good romance, but the characters have to have a connection. I don't like when I am reading a book and all of a sudden they are madly in love. It makes me feel like I missed something.

I definately love the romance but I also really enjoy some humor added to romance books. A book that can tug at my heart and make me laugh is definately something I would enjoy. Thanks for the giveaway.

I totally agree, Bethie. I like writing and reading books where the hero and heroine are former lovers who are thrown together for another shot at each other!

I love the romance, but also like to have chemistry between the characters, some humor, maybe a little action.

I'm a big fan of humor, too. I'm not one of those authors who can write a lot of comedic scenes, but I inject a little humor where I can. It's definitely tougher in a more serious sort of book.

This looks great!!!

For me, I have to be able to get into the book from the beginning. If it doesn't hold my interest from the beginning, I won't finish it. Plus, love...lots of love!

I love when the story pulls me in so that I lose track of time. I love when the story grabs me so I'm laughing out loud or crying like there's no tomorrow.

Very interesting interview - thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of Protective Custody!

I'm with you guys - if a book doesn't hook me from the beginning, I'm done. I've heard people say about something they are reading, "It took me a couple of chapters to get into it." That's a deal breaker for me.

If I'm reading a book it has to have romance and a happy ending. I love books that have a lot of humor as well as suspense.

Hi Wynter,

I love when the sexual chemistry is intense and blisteringly hot, when the dialogue is smart and a bit snarky, and the characters come alive with an amazing storyline. With a world so fascinating, you can’t wait to return to it.

I love the romance, mystery and the suspense in a book. I love the characters. I love the mention of soulmates. I love all books to have romance in them including the horror books. I am a hopeless romantic. Please enter me in contest. Tore923@aol.com

The suspense pulled me in and I have to check out Protective Custody. That's one of the things I love about books, when something just draws me to them. Also, I like to cheer the hero/heroine on and she them achieve their goals.

I like a solid story line and character connection most no matter what genre I'm reading. I want to be able to connection with the characters on some level - if it is a romance the protragonists definitely have to show a solid connection of some sort (doesn't matter if it is a new romance or old couple).

Your book sounds awesome congrats on it :)!

Sherry - A HEA is a must - no exceptions.

Cathy - Blistering hot is my specialty;-) When you have that chemistry between characters it makes the book hard to put down. As a writer, it's so fun to write that heat.

Thanks, Tore. I've never read a horror book with romance. I will have to try that.

Thanks, Leni. One of the hardest things to learn as a writer is to NOT let your characters get what they want (until the end), but to keep dangling it in front of them, then yanking it away!

Joni - I am a sucker for humor, too.

Thank you, Pam

First, there must be a HEA and romance. I love a good storyline and the players, main and secondary, should be well created. Always love a strong sexy hero and a sassy heroine.

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
