Guest Author and Giveaway with Lori Toland !!!

If someone were writing a story about Lori Toland what would your blurb say?

What if your dream came true? (insert sun rise here) Lori Toland dreamed about becoming a writer while slaving away building her own business (show Lori at her desk sleeping from exhaustion) until one day (Lori opens one eye) that dream (show Lori opening her e-mail with an acceptance email) CAME TRUE!

Can you tell us a little about your newest release TRUST IN ME that isn't in the blurb?
Tristan, the handsome dark haired guy on the cover and the viewpoint the story is written from, is bitter after Jamie crushed his heart the summer he left high school. This story is about Tristan letting go of the past and opening up again to love and trust the man who broke his heart.

What was your inspiration behind the creation of TRUST IN ME ?
Actually Tristan’s job is a lot like mine was. I traveled a lot. So I based his company on mine a little (except mine is retail and Tristan’s is tech). I’m always the last back up and yes, I answer my cell all the time, even on vacation.

What was your favorite scene to write in TRUST IN ME ?
I loved the bathroom scene (oh hush, no bathroom humor here) because the tension was so high, I was choking on it.

What accent is sure to make you swoon?
British accents but that is kind of wearing off now. If you didn’t know, my husband is British, from Liverpool, England. I guess it’s a good thing I married him for his personality because I barely notice the accent anymore.

What was the most challenging thing you’ve done in the name of research that might have been out of your comfort zone?
Visited a sex club. Enough said

Please share with us something that readers would be surprised to learn about you.
I can catch small furry animals that somehow become trapped in my house. I have a lovely outdoor cat who loves to make new friends. He also loves to bring them inside for us to play with. As of this interview, he has brought in: rabbits, birds, mice, rats, a naked mole rat (Hubby and I dorked out bad because we love Kim Possible) and last but certainly not the least, a bat.

How can the readers stay in touch with you online?
You can always send me an e-mail at lori@loritoland.com or tweet me @loritoland or add me on Facebook.

Favorites List… fill in the blank
1. Favorite City: Dallas, Texas
2. Favorite Romance book of all time (your go to book you can read over and over again): Change of  Heart by Mary Calmes
3. Favorite type of hero: Beta Hero (glasses are a must!)
4. Favorite Quote: from “The Princess Diaries”
Mia: I just hope that if he kisses me... um... my foot pops.
                              Mom: Pops?
Mia: Yeah. You know, in old films whenever a girl gets seriously kissed... her foot         would just kind of...pop.

If you could ask readers any one question, what would it be?
If the one true love of your life hurt you like Jamie did to Tristan, could you let him or her back into your life?

When Tristan takes over for a sick employee, he runs into an old high school crush. Ten years after a summer fling with Jamie, left him with a broken heart, Tristan's got a different view of it; will he push away the only man he's ever loved?

EXCERPT
I found it sad and horrible this was all my life boiled down to. At the end of all of it, I was trying to feel what I had felt when I looked at him. The anger bubbling up within me was simply the pain of being rejected that next morning.

I didn’t say a word to the provocation. I just finished my toast, which created a lump in my throat. I charged the bill to my room and then stood up. I took two steps, then leaned down so only he would hear me. “I don’t know if you are a closet case or what, but you don’t have to worry about me outing you. I’ll be your dirty little secret.” I took a deep breath to steady my voice. “Let’s just treat each other with some sort of civility.”
I couldn’t wait around for his agreement, because the way he looked up at me, those blue eyes of his wide and his lips parted, was driving me to the brink of insanity. I wanted to kiss him until I was drowning again. It took every ounce of strength to turn and walk away.

I know that you are never supposed to say never, but I have serious trust issues to begin with, so no, I don't think I'd give someone another chance to hurt me again.

This book sounds really good.
To answer the question. No I don't think I'd forgive someone who hurt me in the past.

Ha! I had a cat like that too. It was quite a scene as one of the birds he brought in, that I thought was dead, sprung back to life and chased 4 young girls and myself around the house. He just sat and watched, I'm pretty sure I heard him laughing.

Anyhoo... Great interview! :)

I don't think I could forgive him. Even if I said I did anytime he made me mad I'm pretty sure it would pop back in my mind and I would run my mouth to him and we would have an even bigger fight.

I think that everyone deserves a second chance...But I would be careful to try to keep from falling to much in love, if I could. If they do it twice, I would not give them a third chance.

Boy that's a tough question. If you love someone you should forgive them but. It would be very hard to do so because of getting hurt again. I guess it would all depend on what things were involved.

I'm not sure because I usually decide things when I'm in that particular moment.

If it was really the one true love of my life, I really hope I could. Though of course he would have to earn that place back :-)

My first thought was to say no I would not but I think if it really did happen and I had a bit of time to think about it and really loved the person, then yes I wpould.

Thanks for the giveaway.

I probably would forgive -- once. But it would probably really depend on the situation that caused the pain. It's hard to regain trust after hurt.

My immediate answer is no. Then I started thinking and I found I had several depends....

It depends on how long ago this happened...

Have I exeperience life enough to look back at my past and see things differently...

Do I know all the facts on why this person crushed my heart....

Thanks,

It's hard to answer the question about whether or not I'll forgive somebody who hurt me in the past, I guess it depends on the situation and depends on whether I can just get over the person and be okay with him NOT being in my life.

It would depend on the circumstances, of course, but for me, I probably wouldn't let him back into my life - wouldn't want to risk my heart again! Sounds like a great book, though, and I can't wait to read it.

I don't really think I could let them back into my life. I might forgive them but everything would be strange and awkward and I'd prefer not to deal with that. It can be hard to trust people in the first place that giving them a second chance is a lot to ask.

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
