THE PRINCESSS IN HIS BED by Lila DiPasqua

Book one of authors Lila DiPasqua's A Fiery Tale Collection I was blown away, not just by the re-telling or shall I say the complete remastering of three very familiar fiery tales but I remember calling them simply delicious.

So I have thought long and hard and once again have come to the conclusion that once again Ms. DiPasqua has rocked the Fiery Tale world with this second book THE PRINCESS IN HIS BED. With a fluid paced storyline, the characters throughout all of the stories are conceived with such a steamy, additively seductive trio of romances and a little cat and mouse to boot.

With characters that are given life in this sensual triplet of romantic dramas, all the characters have been branded into my heart forever in rapture and mesmerized by them all I felt like I couldn't get enough. Reading each individual story with intensity and ferver.

You too will fall in love with all of the characters and stories in THE PRICES IN HIS BED. That you will be begging for more scrumptious Fiery Tale romances and guess what A MIDNIGHT Dance is next on the list to be released. But you will have to wait until Aug 2011 for that little morsel.

The Marquis’ New Clothes: To save her cousin, Aimee de Miran must retrieve a jeweled ring from the most sinfully seductive man at court, the Marquis de Nattes. But to search his considerable wardrobe she’ll have to get very close to the notorious rake…and soon she finds herself very close to him indeed, with his clothes—and hers—utterly forgotten…

The Lovely Duckling: Reputed for his carnal skills, Joseph d’Alumbert prefers amorous encounters without emotional entanglement—until a quick-witted lady stirs tender feelings and hot desire. Emilie de Sarron suffered burns to her body as an infant, and keeps her scars—and her heart—well hidden. But Joseph is determined to peel away her inhibitions, one slow steamy kiss at a time, to reveal the beautiful swan inside…

The Princess and the Diamonds: Princess Gabrielle can’t sleep at night. There is something hard in her bed. No, not just the stolen diamonds tucked under her mattress, but the handsome Marquis on it….whose carnal talents she can’t resist. But he threatens her secret mission, and worse, she stands to lose far more than the diamonds---her heart is at stake….

DATING MR.DECEMBER by Phillipa Ashley

DATING MR.DECEMBER by Phillipa Ashley is a story that will make you laugh, make you smile and feel all warm and cozy inside.

I must admit with the holidays coming I am just not in the mood sometimes because it seems that every author writes a holiday book around well.... the holidays. So this was by far a really fun and refreshing story that I have read centered around the holiday season.

Although this story is a bit predictable at times I was never board, because with the Emma and Will are simply delightful. Not without fault, either of them have their own scars and drama that at times doesn't mix to well with one another, but through and through it is charming with such identifiable characters.

Romance is surely in the air this season, so why not start with a smart romance that will warm you heart throughout the holidays.

When a nice girl asks twelve men to get naked, it’s sure to cause a scandal…
Emma Tremayne leaves her high-powered PR job and moves to the Lake District looking for peace, quiet-and celibacy. So perhaps it’s not the best idea when, in the spirit of “community-mindedness,” she agrees to help the local mountain rescue team fund raise by putting together a “tasteful” nude calendar. Especially since quite a lot of the community seems to mind what she’s up to-including the tall, dark and handsome Mr. December, Will Tennant, who appears to have gotten the wrong impression about Emma’s intentions. So how does she convince him that he’s more than just the flavor of the month?

Games Men Play by G.A. Hauser

I just finished GAMES MEN PLAY by G.A. Hauser and I have to say I feel a little in love with Rufus and Stockton, especially the vulnerable Stockton (aka Stocky). This is a grown man in his thirties who has hidden who he really is all his life. He family, he knows will never accept him, although he is a successful busness owner and an all around great guy Stockton knows that life will never be the same if he comes out. So he has hidden shamefully what he knew to be true, he is a gay man. Especially now that Rufus has come into his life by chance.

Stockton is full of so man insecurities that it does play mind games with himself to the point that he almost ruins everything with Rufus before it even really starts. And then there is Rufus, he is close to his very ill mother who he adores but his company is relocating to Atlanta. This means Rufus will be jobless very soon and relocating a little further south means leaving Stockton just when things seem to be going to right for them.

Rufus has to get past his own insecurities, as Stockton's self confidence builds and he starts to commit 100% to this releationship. His ex left him, but not before explicitally telling him great detail all the illicit affairs he had while they were together.

Love knows no bounds when it comes to Rufus and Stockton, but both have some hard lessions to learn if they are even going to make it one more day together. Especially while it seems that the entire world is against them and they just can't get their heads above water enough to catch their breath. Both men must get past their insecurites, their family issues and emotional baggage and relaize in time what their love is really worth. A battle that if they come out on the top, they will find all the love and happiness that they have always desires.

Rufus Jennison was at a transition in his life. Soon to be laid off, thirty-five and recently single, Rufus knew something needed to change before he threw up his hands and gave up on any hope of happiness.
Stockton 'Stocky' Hastings was also on his own and his self-esteem was in the gutter. 'Stocky' was his nickname for a reason. He didn't think a guy like Rufus would even consider him a date, let alone a mate. Stockton was wrong.

Two men- both with hidden insecurities and self-doubt find strength in each other. But unfortunately it comes with the games. The Games Men Play.

Excerpt

God, he was mad. He couldn’t believe they were protecting a target. He was good and damn furious. What was Adam thinking?
Jeff was fucking pissed off. He wanted an explanation. He deserved one. “Wasn’t it bad enough that you spent the last five years with a woman who seemed bound and determined to make you look like a fool?”
Adam flinched. “I deserved that. Everyone tried to tell me. I wouldn’t listen. When I took my vows, I took them to mean I’d be with the same woman until death do us part, like the minister marrying us suggested.”

“Yeah, well, congratulations. You stuck by those vows, and look where commitment and loyalty got you.”

“This isn’t about me.”
The tide rolled in and out, in and out. Jeff had been sitting there for a long time, listening to the waves break around him, staring up at the black sky, and wondering what kind of woman grabbed a man at first sight. He’d gasped for air when he’d first met her, meeting as it was, and yet he could’ve killed her in the same breath, angry when he realized her face existed in their fucking deck.

“What has gotten into you?” Adam asked, concern in his voice.

“I thought about asking you the very same thing.”

Silence. Adam mastered the gift of negotiation. He used every tactic he could to make his marks talk without giving into the need for violence.
Jeff, on the other hand, didn’t have the patience. He liked to beat the truth out of his targets, find out what they knew, and then laugh when he destroyed the kind of monster most deserving of the fate he was hired to deliver.

An eye for an eye, and based on his history, it would eventually be how he died. Men like him didn’t die old or retire to a porch swing.

Jeff knew the score. He kept a tally. The time would come when he paid the ultimate price. It was the way the universe kept a balance. The eye for an eye thing eventually got them all—good guys, bad guys, men with badges, thugs dealing drugs—every last one of them. In the end, they all met the same challenging fate.

“Do you think we’re held accountable for the things we do?”

Adam cleared his throat. “You mean for the hits?”

"Yeah,” Jeff replied thoughtfully. “Do we face the same outcome? Are we any better than those killing innocent people?”

“I think so. We put a stop to illegal activity. We hunt animals, not decent men and women.”

“Is that what you tell yourself when you drag a man away from his dinner table while he’s sitting across from his wife and small children?”
“I do,” Adam said. “If I take out one of these guys on their front lawn, I don’t think about who’s watching from inside, but that’s me.

“I think about the guys and gals who didn’t go home from work because of one of these creeps. I wonder what their victims miss in life, the Christmas holidays, the summer vacations, who they’ll never see grow up or graduate from college. That’s what I think about.

“To hell with what the thugs leave behind. I consider the blameless. I ponder what these criminals took away from those who didn’t deserve a life cut short. Then, I think of the lives I saved because I did my job and stopped a man or woman with criminal intent.”

“Do you have any idea how many shots I’ve been required to fire while the target sat with his or her family?”

“I’m sure a lot. We all have.”

“Twenty-seven,” Jeff informed him.

“And out of that many, how many do you regret?”

“Not a damn one,” Jeff admitted. “The targets all had numerous kills, and the women? Oh, God, they were the worst. Still, the older I get, I wonder if there’s a better way.”

“You’re questioning yourself?”

“Not exactly, but sometimes I ask why me? Why did I pull the trigger?”

“You chose this line of work. This isn’t the kind of job that reaches out and grabs you. Our operatives understand what they’re getting themselves into, and they realize when they enter our training program that if they ever leave, we’re unable to protect them.”

“I ain’t leavin’, so don’t worry about me,” Jeff drawled.

“Sounds like you’ve considered going somewhere.”

“No, but lately I’ve spent a lot of hours thinking about life and death. You know, about my time, and how much I have left.”

“Your time will come, whether you’re with our team or not.”

“Don’t you worry that if you live by the gun, you’ll die by its bullet?”

“If you’re behind a misguided missile fighting for the wrong cause, then yes, I believe you’ll die as you’ve lived. But we’re the good guys. We stand for what’s right, what’s worth defending. We save others by destroying evil, savage individuals who take the lives of those who had a life worth living. If you don’t find peace in anything else, hold fast to that, Jeff.”

“I still say that woman may ruin you,” Jeff changed the subject.

“Maybe, but probably not.” Adam chuckled. “I’m the rock, remember?”

“You’re the backbone of this operation, that’s for sure.”

“Rocks don’t roll uphill.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Jeff asked.

“Don’t worry about Paige. She’s out of my league.” Adam slapped Jeff on the back and walked away.

Maybe Adam thought Paige Lambert—Carpasia—was out of his league, but as far as Jeff was concerned, they were in the same class.

They were all killers. She’d killed before. He’d bet on that any day of the week and twice on Sunday. The lady wasn’t clean-handed.

Females rarely purchased guns for show. Since his fellow operatives had fallen victim to Paige’s womanly ways, Jeff would do his homework. He would find out Paige Lambert Carpasia’s secrets. Then, he’d expose her. His team had a right to know with whom they were dealing.

In the meantime, he’d stay away from her, keep as much space between them as possible. Otherwise, he couldn’t be responsible for his actions.

ADULT EXCERPT

Connor took the lead, stealing her out of Callan’s arms and kissing her like a wild man out of control. His hands caught in her loosely fallen curls and he framed her face, making love to her mouth in a deeply erotic kiss. If they came up for air, Jeff didn’t notice.

When their kiss broke, Adam took her from Connor. She draped her arms over his back and held him to her. Adam’s sex hung low and flaccid at her entrance, but when she kissed him, he hardened to the point of gaining a wide eye from everyone. If Paige had glanced down, she might have freaked.

Who would’ve thought? Adam really was a stud.

Paige reached for Connor and held him in her palm, pumping his weight through a steady hand while clutching Adam’s forearm, drawing him close. She started grinding against him, rubbing her pussy all over his shaft and acting undisturbed when she clearly had a good idea of his size.

Callan slid his hand between their bodies and tweaked her nipple with a perverse smile. Miles prepared, passing out condoms like candy.

When he tossed one Jeff’s way, Jeff grunted. He hadn’t planned to join so soon, but after he’d worked himself into a steely situation, he wasn’t sure he’d find satisfaction in watching. Besides, he knew where he was destined to slide.

The sound of popping rubber filled the room. Jeff’s knee hit the mattress, and Paige touched his cheek. She broke Adam’s kiss long enough to turn her cheek and whisper, “It took you way too long.”

“I wanted you to miss me.”

Evidently Adam didn’t view Jeff’s intrusion as an imposition. Adam grabbed Paige’s hips and ground against her, allowing her to kiss Jeff long enough to ignite a stronger degree of passion.

When Jeff pulled Paige over him, her back landed against his chest. His hands cupped her breasts, and he pinched her nipples. “I want you to give Callan a blow job,” he suggested at her ear, noticing he was the only one without a condom.

His hands traveled up her chest, and he tilted her chin toward him, leaning over her right shoulder long enough to swipe his tongue across her lips. “Can you do that for us?”

“I can do that for me,” she teased, smacking her lips and wrapping her hand around Callan’s size. She held him like she might grip a hotdog, lapping at the end as if she didn’t have the first inclination to drop her jaw and just blow.

And she didn’t. At least not yet.

Paige took the lead and spread her legs wide. Adam fingered her, locking four fingers deep inside her channel until she moaned over and over again, unable to stop when he manipulated her clit.

Callan took the opportunity to tuck his penis inside her open mouth, and she willingly sucked. What he lacked in size he compensated with attention, rubbing a flat open palm over her nipple while his cock swelled inside her mouth.

Adam’s fingers were joined by Connor’s, and Connor dropped his lips over her clit, flicking the hard button with his tongue twice before changing positions all over again. Miles knelt to her left. Callan stayed at the right. Fingers deserted her. Jeff shifted behind her, spreading her cheeks with his thumbs.

“What comes next?” she breathed, releasing Callan and eyeing Adam.

This was it, and she was ready.

“Loving, and lots of it,” Jeff told her.

Jeff’s fingers twirled around her back hole and she flinched. “Relax,” he said, returning with lube-drenched fingers. He pushed inside her cheeks and she cried out.

“Easy, baby,” he said. “I won’t hurt you.”

Irresistible Knight by Tierney O'Malley

In Tierney O'Malley's 2nd book in the Knight Brother's Series, Irresistible Knight (which is now avail from Red Rose Publishing), Taylor Monte Carlo has a real problem, she is on the run, from her father. Cut off from her bank account and everything she know, which isn’t much when you are practically held captive in your own home. For her own protection of course….. ahhh yeah, not really! More like the protection of her father. Congressman and child virgin trafficker Bruno Jean. Ruthless and cold hearted, but the man loves his daughter with a fierceness that can’t be ignored. More for his own sanity and the continued success of his human trafficking business does he keep his daughter on lock down. Giving her all the funds in the world, she can go anywhere she wants, that is if she is heavily escorted by her bodyguards to really keep her sheltered.

Feeling lost and a lot naive Taylor is in search of the only man she feels can help get her father’s life back on track. She wants him to quit his side business of selling young virgins and live a normal life. Her mother’s death still haunts her and although she knows that her father has done some seriously horrific things, he is all she has and she knows that he does love her and would never harm her.

In comes Bors Knight, the rugged and rough around the edges son of Judge Arthur Knight. Arthur is honorable and fierce in his own right, he takes no crap, no bribes and follows the law with a dedication that sometimes seems long dead. Their first encounter, neither Taylor or Bors knows who the other is, and it is really for the best. Bors has been chasing after Jean for some time trying to bust him and put him away for good, but the touch FBI agent is no match for the beautifully simple Taylor Jean.

Immediately their chemistry is off the charts, the banter between the two flows like lava. Eating up everything in its way. They take digs at each other in such a harmless and flirtatious way, thing is that Taylor is so innocent she doesn’t realize the effect of her teasing even when she is really trying to be downright harsh and standoffish to Bors. He eats it up and can’t get enough, it is honestly quite comical and really helped the story flow. It doesn’t help his ego that she rejects him at every turn and doesn’t fall for his charms at all.

Push comes to shove and Bors ends up taking care of Taylor, their bond only solidifying each and every moment they spend together. It doesn’t help that Taylor hates law enforcement and has seen the ugly side of the corrupt men of government and law enforcement through her father’s business that Bors has to lie to her. A huge lie, he is and FBI Agent and not only that he is out for her father’s head. But falling in love with the witty beauty is something that the sexy Bors isn’t prepared for and when it comes time to face up to reality and the truth comes out, not even a bullet to the heart can do more damage to Bors then losing Taylor. That is exactly what happens too.
What is love worth to you? Bors finds out what in his life he is willing to give up to have Taylor back in his life. Living without her is slowly killing him and it will be a real test for both Taylor and Bors’ relationship if they can make it through to the end together or if all is lost.
Not to be lost is the family bond the Knights carry, all of them with such individual personalities that you can’t help but fall in love with all of them at once. Not only that, but I am dying to read all their stories in the future!

Sexy and fun, this second addition to Tierney O’Malley’s Knight Brother’s Series will capture your heart and make you cry, laugh and ache inside for the two doomed lovers. Can they make it through to their happily ever after? At times I wasn’t so sure it was in the cards for them, but through unconditional love, acceptance and forgiveness they battle their way through to capture their own special pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Sleep deprived, Bors Knight thanked his stars when he decided to help the vanilla scented Taylor Monte Carlo cross the street. She’s in need of a place to stay and his ticket to finally nail the man he wants to throw in jail. Not one to let go of a good opportunity, he offers her his newly built home. Taylor, however, has made matters complicated. She occupies his room, covers his windowsill with her rock collection, disturbs his quiet morning with beautiful music, and then… crawls inside his heart.
Taylor wants only one thing—keep her father from ending up in jail. Her problem is solved when she meets the funny and delicious looking hunk Bors whose father happens to be a judge. He offers to share his home, his secret cove, and show her blinding and all-consuming passion she has never known. In a very short time, she has learned to trust Bors with her secrets. All was good until a man holding a gun, Hollywood style, blows his cover—an FBI agent bent on sending her father to jail. In love, Taylor finds herself between two men she can’t live without. But who should she chose?

THE TAMING OF THE WOLF by Lydia Dare

When you think of yourself as a monster, a man not worthy it is a long journey back to happiness. This is what happens in Lydia Dare's THE TAMING OF THE WOLF, Dash's story. Longing to read about how Dash finally falls, in love that is was such a wondrous treat. It's it always those misunderstood and scared souls of men that we fall in love with? The ones are the most angry and bruise, those are the men that need the most love and care.

Dash is in for a treat when he is paired with his true mate, Caitrin is one hell of a feisty woman, and she is his perfect match in every way. Both strut their arrogance in such a fascinating way exposing the authors keen ability for rich characterization that delivers on what I can only say is a riveting exploration of Dash's dark side and Caitin's reverent charm.

Suspenseful and delightful all that the same time, if you have been keeping up with the series then you know that these character's were long over due for a match. And a perfect one they create together.

They captured my heart as I found their love story simply spellbindly sinful.

Regency England has gone to the wolves!
He could never lose control…
Dashiel Thorpe, Earl of Brimsworth, has spent his life fighting the wolf within him. But when the full moon rises, Dash is helpless. A chance encounter with Caitrin Macleod on a moonlit night inadvertently binds the two together irrevocably, and Dash’s impulsiveness plunges them both into a nightmare…
She never saw him coming…
Caitrin Macleod is no quiet country lass, but a witch with remarkable abilities. But when it comes to Dashiel, she’s as helpless to fight his true nature as he is. Her senses overwhelmed, she runs back to the safety and security of her native Scotland…
But Dashiel is determined to follow her—she’s the only woman who can free him from a fate worse than death. And Caitrin will ultimately have to decide whether she’s running from danger, or true love…

My uncle, the accountant, will edit my novel. He
By Russell Brooks
Several people dream of publishing their first novel. Why not? Considering that the internet and the ebook revolution has opened doors for many authors, authors have a greater chance of getting their work read by more people than had they gone the traditional route—where most are rejected Afterall, all one needs to do is to write a novel, upload it to a site like Amazon or Smashwords, and voilà, right?

Not quite so.

Although it may appear that self-publishing is an easy, inexpensive process, most first-time authors rarely sell copies of their novels beyond their friends and their families because they lack the knowledge of what is important in preparing a novel for publication—especially when it comes to getting their works professionally edited and beta-read. And unless first-time authors understand and accept these two important steps, then they stand a good chance of torpedoing their careers before they start.

Getting a manuscript professionally content and copy edited is a necessity. I strongly recommend that writers choose an editor who is registered with a reputable group. In Canada there is the EAC (http://www.editors.ca/). Similar associations exist in different countries. And writers would be better off hiring an editor from one of those associations because those editors must adhere to strict guidelines (ethics and/or laws) in order to keep their membership (and their credibility). Furthermore since a manuscript can be sent via email attachment, one doesn’t have to worry about paying expensive postage and handling fees.

“But I can save a load of money and have my uncle edit my manuscript.”
Sure you can. You can also save loads of money by getting legal advice from Uncle Tom, Uncle Dick, or Aunt Harriet rather than hire a lawyer if you’re sued for killing your neighbour’s cat with your car when you backed out the driveway. The bottom line is if they don’t have the experience, nor the know-how at performing any task which professionals normally handle, then you’ll most likely wind up with disastrous results. However, the best time to have siblings or close friends review your work is if they are professionals in the subject matter that you are writing about. In other words they can act as beta readers—or secondary readers—that would read your manuscript with a more critical eye than your average reader. For example, if you wrote a novel where military jets and weapons are mentioned frequently and Uncle Joe is in the army, then choose him as your beta reader because he’d be able to point out any inaccuracies—an area where an independent editor may fall short. That’s unless they have the right resources for fact checking (which may be a bit more costly). The same thing goes if you’re writing a detective novel and Uncle Dick or Aunt Harriet are police officers, then they’d be the right people to have as beta-readers.

Independent editors—both content and copy—have experience in the publishing industry and know what publishers and literary agents are looking for. By the same token they will be a great asset in bringing your work up to publication standards—increasing your chances at helping your manuscript being noticed. Beta readers—such as family, friends, acquaintances, or professionals—will help you with accuracy, saving you hours of research. All in all, it’s important that you, the writer, know who to approach for what and when. And oh yeah, as for the neighbour’s cat I mentioned earlier, it wasn’t me.

I’d like to thank Ms Brandé Waldron for hosting me on the final leg of the Stop the Succession virtual book tour.

Review & Giveaway: STRONGER THAN SIN by Caridad Piñeiro

This is the second book that I have read by Caridad Piñeiro and I have to honestly saw that I enjoyed STRONGER THAN SIN much much more. Not that I didn't enjoy Sins of the Flesh, because I did, it's just that Stronger Than Sin was a step up! I step up in drama, suspense, the storyline is fantastic and additively seductive. Not just the passion but the theory behind poor Jesse's body solidifying basically from the inside out and growing bone over flesh is truly amazing. The spark was there immediately between Jesse and Liliana, although it took them a little longer for it to connect due to Liliana knowing that something was up, something was shady about this whole entire situation.

Someone is manipulation Jesse, he volunteered into this program and with the thought that he would give his body to their science to improve his broken body, to save his family, especially his little sister who he is told that she is very sick.

A wonderful addition to a fabulous series that is hot hot hot, with the perfect blend of a sinfully delicious plot and with the purely sexy and thrilling plot !

Dr. Liliana Carrera nearly lost her life to Wardwell scientists. She won't let them harm other innocent victims, like her new patient, Jesse Bradford. The former pro athlete had the best hands in the NFL . . . until an injury forced him to undergo Wardwell's experimental gene therapy. Now Jesse's gorgeous body is superhuman-but his strength comes at a price.
With Wardwell threatening his family, Jesse can't tell Liliana all he knows. Yet he can't resist her compassion . . . or her healing, erotic touch. BIG TEMPTATION by Robin L. Rotham

Wow, or should I say double wow! I just finished BIG TEMPTATION by Robin L. Rotham and I must say that it is one of those books that haunts you after you put it down. Only in a good way, they way where you felt so emotionally invested in the characters that you feel slighted that things don't seem like they are going to work out. Perhaps this one isn't going to end happily ever after, after all. I guess it could happen, I felt the same anxiety that the lead Jillian felt. At a loss with no hope in sight.

An brainac accountant for a top hotel, she called in the help of one Barrett George for a Corporate Investigation as to where the missing GM went. Not only that but there is a trail of some missing money too.

With that little drama aside Jillian is sexually repressed and cautious do to her past and her family, but I found her adorable at the same time. After all, what kind of girl can refuse sexy 6'6'' Barrett as he takes the hotel by storm, that and her heart. He has zeroed in on her and makes no mistake in giving Jillian any false promises. He is 100% honest with her, he wants sex, nothing more. He promises her a good time for the few weeks that he is in town during the investigation.

Oh boy, and what happens between them is beautiful, dangerously sexy, so erotic that it could quite possibly make your temp rise! There dialog was also raw at times, there is a history behind Barrett's aloofness with woman and he makes no excuses for that. But as much as I wanted to hate him at times for his actions I honestly fell a little in love with him. There was something deeper for Barrett and Jillian, not all pretty words and hot sex. The emotional roller coaster the author takes you on is one I will not soon forget!

When the Mahoney Tower Tulsa’s general manager disappears, Jillian Fox calls headquarters for help. What she gets is a hotshot corporate investigator—and an inexplicable craving for things that are very, very bad for her. Something besides his monogram and size sixteen shoes tells her Barrett George could be BIG trouble, but resisting his aggressive pursuit turns out to be even harder than keeping her fingers out of the candy bowl.
Barrett knows the skittish little accountant is probably smart not to trust him, especially if she’s looking for crappily ever after. But it’s been months since he got laid and her avoidance tactics only inflame his inner predator. Barrett’s sexual domination sparks Jillian’s complete sensual surrender and a primal attraction that puts both their hearts at risk.
But even as he tests the limits of her trust, the investigation heats up, exposing a conspiracy that places Jillian in harm’s way—and forces Barrett to face his greatest fear.

The Spurned Viscountess by Shelley Munro

The Spurned Viscountess by Shelley Munro is one of those books that you pick up thinking one thing and it turns out you are in for a bit of a treat, because something unexpected comes of the words. An historical romance where the hero if you will is a little more than reluctant, his memory missing in chunks only to remember a life with another woman long dead.

Sweet Rosalind is anxious and oh so nervous when it comes to her newly betrothed. He doesn't want her, but she know that she must stick it though no matter the consequences if she wants an semblance of a normal life. A life where others will not say that she is cursed with witchcraft, a life where she will be accepted, have children and grow old and happy with a man. Safety, security and hopefully just a little bit of happiness.

In the turn of events to come though beautiful and shy Rosalind Lucien's relationship will most defiantly have it's run ins with disaster, including her longtime friend and hand-maiden disappearing, the cruelty of others who think they are above her and the respect of her own husband who seems to want to reject her at every point.

A fun and not your typical historical romance read, I enjoyed the storyline and mini mystery that flowed through until the end. One aspect that I wish though was Lucien being more aware of Rosalind's gift a little sooner and what aspects that might have brought to the story. At times he was a little more than brash or cruel to her, but on the other hand I understood that Lucien was dealing with his own personal demons.

She must marry him.
Cursed with the sight and rumors of witchcraft, Rosalind’s only chance at an ordinary life is marriage to Lucien, Viscount Hastings. She doesn’t expect love, only security and children of her own. Determined to go through with the wedding, she allows nothing she encounters at the gloomy Castle St. Clare to dissuade her.
He wants nothing to do with her.
Recently returned from the Continent, Lucien has no time for the English mouse his family has arranged for him to marry, not when he’s plotting to avenge the murder of his beloved Francesca. He has no intention of bedding Rosalind, not even to sire an heir.
Dark secrets will bind them.
Though spurned by her bridegroom, Rosalind turns to him for protection when she is plagued by a series of mysterious accidents and haunted by terrifying visions. Forced to keep Rosalind close, and tempted into passionate kisses, Lucien soon finds himself in grave danger of falling in love with his own wife…

Fairy tales retellings….Without the damsels in distress!

I’m so excited to be here and talk about my November historical romance release, THE PRINCESS IN HIS BED (next in my Fiery Tales series)! I’ve taken three classic fairy tales: The Emperor’s new clothes, The Ugly Duckling, and The Princess and the Pea, renamed and retold them---quite scandalously, in fact---in “The Marquis’ New Clothes”, “The Lovely Duckling,” and “The Princess and the Pea”.

Yes, dearest readers, you get one historical romance novel with three hot historical bad boys:

Adam de Vey, Marquis de Nattes (The Marquis’ New Clothes)

Joseph d’Alumbert, son of the Duc de Vernant (The Lovely Duckling)

Mathias de Tesson, Marquis de Montfort (The Princess and the Diamonds)

But I’m afraid I don’t have any damsels in distress in the book. Nope. Not a one. The ladies in my book are “strong- minded heroines you can relate to” (Fresh Fiction). These heroines may not be damsels in distress, but at times they are damsels without their dress. *winks* (Sorry. I just couldn’t resist. hehe) I did I mention the heroes are “breathtaking carnally gifted male leads” (Fresh Fiction). Right?

Ahem…Yes, well, carnal talents aside, my sinfully seductive rakes are offered three strong women who aren’t pushovers. And who have the courage to take charge of their own future, not to mention protect and help those they love.

So who are these ladies, you ask?

In The Marquis’ New Clothes—Aimee de Miran, Countess of Gremont, is a woman on a mission. Her foolish, impetuous cousin has stolen her former lovers’ ring. A man who happens to be the King’s Lieutenant General of Police. (Are you shaking your head with me? Foolish, foolish cousin.) Her cousin accidentally dropped the ring in the pocket of Adam de Vey, Marquis de Nattes. In order to get close enough to search his pockets, Aimee will have to seduce a man she believes is no less a womanizer than her late husband was. Someone who sees women as interchangeable, or so Aimee thinks. She is unaware that Adam has been deeply infatuated with her for a very long time. And that this tall dark and handsome man has his own seduction in mind.

In The Lovely Duckling—Emilie de Sarron has been through a lot. Teased all her life because of the burns she sustained in a fire as a child, she’s been called Singed de Sarron. Emilie Embers. Charred and Scarred Emilie de Sarron. All of which are detestable. Worse, at her introduction into society, she was horribly teased and publicly humiliated—the hero, Joseph, regrettably a part of this fiasco. It was the final straw. For ten years, Emilie withdrew from society. Now she’s back and she’s determined to grab a bit bliss—albeit strictly sexual. She longs to touch and be touched. Love is out of the question, since no suitor had ever wanted her. But a physical encounter is doable. How? Well, she’s going to use the anonymity of a masquerade orgiastic ball in order to find a willing lover, and indulge. Who expected that the very man she gives herself to is none other than Joseph.

In The Princess and the Diamonds—Princess Gabrielle has stolen some royal diamonds. Okay, maybe not stolen. Perhaps *borrowed* is a better word. Her half-brother has gambled away his fortune at the Basset tables—a card game recently banned by the King. Knowing she has skill at the game, she dons male attire and is intent on using the royal diamonds to gamble with. If only the gorgeous man seated across from her didn’t unsettle her so. She isn’t going to let his stirring effect on her senses distract her from the game. Or to keep her from winning.

QUESTION: Let’s talk damsels. If you were a damsel in distress in fairy tale, who would you want to rescue you? My answer: If hubby wasn’t available, I’m hoping Bradley Cooper will be charging into the castle. :)

About Me

Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
