NO PLACE TO RUN by Maya Banks

As a mega Maya Banks fan I have to say I have yet to be dissappointed yet in any of her books, so it was a no brainer for me to pick up book #2 in the The Kelly Group International (KGI) series, NO PLACE TO RUN! Finding a fault with book #2, I could not. This is the story of Sam and Sophie, lovers for a short time while he was on a mission in Mexico, Sophie isn't want she seems, but she has dissapeared, leaving a lasting tattoo on Sam's heart forever. He isn't new of the love them and leave them life, but something about Sophie sparked something in Sam pretty deep. To a place he isn't sure he wants to go.

Five months later she reappears, floating almost dead in the river outside his lakehouse. In search for santuary with Sam, Sophie has had no choice but to seek out his help. She didn't want to involve him because doing so would risk his life.

Her father is a man who is wanted by the US government and was on KGI's hit list while in mexico, but Sam wasn't able to make the connection between Sophie and her deadly father. She is on the run and needs his help, but she has brought danger and death to his doorstep.

Sam, I fell in love with in book one, well to be honest all the brothers simply rock! But in just a few pages I felt that I learned a lot about Sam and couldn't help but root for the guy. He wasn't used to being in love actually, but with Sophie not telling anyone including him the whole truth thinking she is protecting him, he doubts her so many times. And frankly it is hard to blame him, I adore Sophie, but watching the emotional volcano she puts Sam through I wasn't sure who I felt more sorry for.

You want suspense, humor, a sexy devlishly handsome to die for man who protects what is his, then this books is for you. Risk and reward is what it is all about, self sacrifice and the burning love that only happens once in a lifetime, Sam and Sophie will have to fight every single step that in the end I felt like I needed a vacation from all the emotional stress of thier relationship. Worth it, hell yes!

As with book #1, THE DARKEST HOUR, I found that the dialog between all the characters was gripping and realistic. Especially between the brothers who run KGI and their family. And oh what a family they have. I have to say though that you can technically read this book as stand alone because Maya does do a good job at lightly re-hashing some of the history of the supporting cast, but to really understand the dynamic of this incrediable and solid family you will really have to read book one. But don't worry, you won't be dissapointed, it rocks just about as much as this one does! Maya once again knocks it out of the park!!!

Sam Kelly was her first love.
The last person Sam Kelly expected to pull wounded from the lake was Sophie Lundgren. Once they shared a brief, intense affair while Sam was undercover and then she vanished. She's spent the last months on the run, knowing that any mistake would cost her life and that of her unborn child—Sam's child. Now she's resurfaced with a warning for Sam: this time, he's the one in danger.
Now he's her last chance.
Sam has too many questions to let her slip away again—like why she disappeared in the first place. This time he vows not to be seduced

Sounds like a good series. A good action thriller is a necessary read at least once a month.

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
