Suzanne Rock's Up On the Housetop

I think from the first moment I started reading this novella, UP ON THE HOUSETOP by Suzanne Rock, I loved it, Chloe seemed so alone, after all she climbed on the roof of her building to get away from her family. That seems pretty desperate to me! She has a lost love and although there is someone new in her life she doesn’t feel the same way about him as she did Zach. Thinking Zach is dead, along with her brother years ago she has tried to move on. But when it is your soul mate you have lost, it is just too hard to forget.

Frantic to avoid her would be fiancĂ© who wants to marry her with her parents blessing a mysterious stranger makes an appearance. Zach….. long dead, not quit. He has been living in Vegas for all these years. A new life for him began one horrible night when Chloe’s brother and Zach were out west, they were attacked by a werewolf.

Left for dead he was found and brought into an exclusive pack. But always in danger he couldn’t keep himself away from Chloe. He has longed for her for so many years and now in town for a couple days he can’t help make contact.

For such a short story it still packs quite a punch. Romantic as the lovers are reunited, Zach is determined to take Chloe back with him to Vegas. New, evil dangers have followed him and now her life is in danger now too. Not that this is a hardship for him, he has ached for her for so long. But Chloe I think for most of the story was in shock. I guess I would be too if someone returned from the dead only to tell him their were a werewolf.

A sweet and sexy story that will keep you turning the pages just to see what is happening next. I could get enough of Chloe and Zach and the only complaint is that I wish the story was longer, I didn’t want it to end!!!

Desperate to escape her controlling family, Chloe Bradford scrambles up to the housetop of her Texas home on Christmas Eve. There she discovers a sexy stranger cloaked in shadow. He convinces her to shed her good-girl image and give into her most secret desires. The man's low, raspy voice tugs at her memory as much as it awakens her passion. Is he a Christmas miracle, or some figment of her imagination? When he tries to leave, she follows him, eager to learn his identity.

Zach can't stop thinking about Chloe, or their reunion on the roof. His wolf-half urges him to reveal his identity and claim her, but he doesn't dare. For both their sakes, he must remain in the shadows until he can control his inner beast's bursts of rage. After a decade of struggle he thought he could handle his curse, but Chloe's presence causes his control to slip. As the moon-rages become more frequent, he knows he's slipping toward the insanity that claims many of his kind. Only Chloe can save him, but he broke her heart over a decade ago. Her forgiveness would be the real Christmas miracle

thanks so much for the wonderful review, Brande! I'm so happy that you enjoyed the book. :D

PS - The sequel just came out from Loose Id, and is much longer. Zach and Chloe make an appearance, too. ;)

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
