The Hypnotist by M.J. Rose

What if you had the ability to look into your past life, the memories, all those thoughts and emotions captured. An FBI agent, Lucian, morning his lost love, someone he feels the terrible burden of guilt. He couldn't be there to save her and she died. Although that was years ago it is something that paralyzes him still in his daily life.
Life goes on and so does Lucian's career, out to catch an Art thief which brings him into association with Malachai is a skilled hypnotist and a man not quite what he seems. There is a powerful secret, Malachai wants the memory tools. Tools of a magnificent power, it allows someone to look into their past lives memories.
But there is so much more going on that that, Lucian's past is about to come back and slap him in the face. A powerful drama and suspense that includes murder, theft, vandalism and terrorism. So many twist and turns I wasn't sure which way to turn, the plot is utterly riveting and so intricate I had to read a few chapters over just to capture all the details. You won't be sorry you picked up this read, just plan on a long haul and an all nighter because I doubt if you will be able to put this read down!

An FBI agent, tormented by a death he wasn't able to prevent, a crime he's never been able to solve and a love he's never forgotten, discovers that his true conflict resides not in his past, but in a…Past Life.

Haunted by a twenty-year old murder of a beautiful young painter, Lucian Glass keeps his demons at bay through his fascinating work as a Special Agent with the FBI's Art Crime Team. Currently investigating a crazed art collector who has begun destroying prized masterworks, Glass is thrust into a bizarre hostage negotiation that takes him undercover at the Phoenix Foundation—dedicated to the science of past life study—where, in order to maintain his cover, he agrees to submit to the treatment of a hypnotist.

Under hypnosis, Glass travels from ancient Greece to 19th century Persia, while the case takes him from New York to Paris and the movie capital of world. These journeys will change his very understanding of reality, lead him to question his own sanity and land him at the center of perhaps the most audacious art heist in history: the theft of a 1,500 year old sculpture from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

International bestselling author M. J. Rose's The Hynpotist is her most mesmerizing novel yet. An adventure, a love story, a clash of cultures, a spiritual quest, it is above all a thrilling capstone to her unique Reincarnation novels, The Reincarnationist and The Memorist.

I've never subscribed to the notion of past lives, but the idea of it does hold some interesting possibilities. Can't say I'm familiar with Rose's work, but this one sounds like it could be a worthwhile read. Have to keep an eye out for it.

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
