Review & Giveaway To Conquer a Highlander by Mary Wine

My first Mary Wine book and I am totally hooked! To Conquer a Highlander is the first in a trilogy of sexy Scottish Highland romance, that will only get you addicted and begging for more!

This is the story of Laird Torin McLeren and Shannon McBoyd, two different clans that have been at peace for years until now. Shannon's maniacal father the Laird McBoyd just slaughtered villages of the Clan McLeren. Torin is devastated at the loss of life, especially the women and children and is set out for revenge. Although their clans were not friendly, they did not kill each other!

Shannon has been mentally and physically abused from the time she can remember by her father and those of their clan. Laird McBloyd is a ruthless and evil character, women are dirt, and have no opinion. He never things twice about striking his daughter and now she can come in handy, she has become a bargaining chip for him. He is sending her off to marry a man who is posed to become the next King of Scotland. Giving his daughter away will, he thinks, gain him men and provisions to strike out at neighboring clans, especially the McLeren's clan to conquer what he believes should be his.

Intercepted on her way to met her fiance Shannon is taken by Torin and his men. Shocked that she is treated with such civility and kindness by him, his men and his people she doesn't know what to think. She is a seriously feisty woman, but she has had to be living with a father like hers. Grown a tough skin and learned to be a complete spitfire, well, she surely lights Torin on fire. He can't help but be attracted by Shannon, she sparks life into him, her personality, her resilience and her strong will, not to mention that she is beautiful. He just can't pass up touching her, kissing her.

Once things get hot and heavy between the two the drama really starts. Torin took Shannon because he knew her fiance was, he knew that without her Laird McBoyd wouldn't have the support he needed to rage war against his clan or any other. They were out numbered! But what he didn't plan on was falling in love with Shannon and the thought of giving her back rips his heart out.

To Conquer a Highlander by Mary Wine will completely ensnare you with it's clever dialog and plot, additively sexy characters who jump out from behind the pages and deliciously steamy love scenes that will leave you wanting for more!

A fierce Highland laird ready to kill for king and country…
When Torin McLeren discovers his neighbor’s plot against his king, he takes their daughter as his prisoner, thereby stopping her father’s plot from going forward. But that leaves him with a woman under his roof whom he can’t ignore, and not just because she’s his enemy’s daughter…
A woman who’s as much trouble as she is temptation…
Shannon McBoyd decides to use her captor to experience passion for the first time, and then to destroy him. But her plan goes awry because once she has lured Torin into her bed, she no longer wants to hurt the one man who seems to value and understand her…
Even if her father will kill him—and her—when he discovers what they’ve done...

Stellar Review!! This has really made me want to read this book! It sounds a lot like 'The Wedding' by Julie Garwood and I adored that book. The mental and physical abuse sounds like it adds another layer of complexity to the novel!

I tweeted this giveaway (@AnnFes). No I must admit I have never read Mary Wine but this book really intrigues me. I love it when the alpha male finds love and it tamed. Thats the root of all successful romance novels, is it not?

Please enter me in this giveaway. Thank you.

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
