Review & Giveaway Barely a Lady by Eileen Dreyer

Barely a Lady by Eileen Dreyer was absolutely brilliant, intrigue, romance, mystery, redemption, it had it all. I have to admit that I read this one the second I got it and I absolutely loved it.
Olivia has been reduced to being a chaperon and disgraced, her husband believed the lies he was told and divorced her! Now she happens upon him half dead on the battlefield dressed in a French uniform, what can she do but agree to take him in until he is well enough to leave her again.
Although she is very much in love with him still she fights it as much as she can. She is a tough lady, living the way she has for the last five years and knowing that she was set up by his treacherous cousin.

Things is Jack thinks that they are still married and doesn't recall the last five years at all, so when he wakes up and sees Olivia he is still very much in love with her.

As much as I wanted to hate Jack I just couldn't, he was fooled good, and although all those years ago he should have given his wife a chance to explain herself before believing all the lies I just couldn't. I felt sorry for him at times for all the time he lost. You can tell that he is really a good guy who just needed to have a little more faith in Olivia, not always what is presented in front of you, although at the time may look suspect, it isn't.

But this isn't their only problem, Jack was in a French uniform when they found him and Olivia knows in her heart that he couldn't possibly be a traitor, but finding him like she did it is hard to accept. Again she shows her character and strong will and knows that he would never betray England, there must be an answer!

With a supporting cast that absolutely thrills and completes that storyline Barely a Lady is a sexy, witty can't miss for any Historical Romance fan!

Olivia Grace has secrets that could destroy her. One of the greatest of these is the Earl of Gracechurch, who married and divorced her five years earlier. Abandoned and disgraced, Grace has survived those years at the edge of respectability. Then she stumbles over Jack on the battlefield of Waterloo, and he becomes an even more dangerous secret. For not only is he unconscious, he is clad in an enemy uniform.
But worse, when Jack finally wakes in Olivia's care, he can't remember how he came to be on a battlefield in Belgium. In fact, he can remember nothing of the last five years. He thinks he and Olivia are still blissfully together. To keep him from being hanged for a traitor, Olivia must pretend she and Jack are still married.
To unearth the real traitors, Olivia and Jack must unravel the truth hidden within his faulty memory. To save themselves and the friends who have given them sanctuary, they must stand against their enemies, even as they both keep their secrets.
In the end, can they risk everything to help Jack recover his lost memories, even though the truth may destroy them both?

I commented earlier, but it has not shown up. Hope this does not end up as a duplicate comment.
I have read several reviews of this book and they have all been good. This sounds like the type of story I would enjoy. Heartbreak, suspense, mystery, intrigue, a reunion, second chances - what's not to like?
Best of luck with the release of BARELY A LADY.

Book Junkie, very nice review.

I am intrigued about this storyline and if Jack ever gets his memory back. I hate when plots are almost always about misunderstandings because it tortures me, but I know there's some misdeeds going on...so now I'm really curious. Thanks for the recommendation.

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
