Richie is still a little torn up from his longtime girlfriends' death in a car accident six months ago, but with the support from his friend Keri. She has been there when he needed a friend to talk to, listening to him and letting him know she was a friend he could count on. Keri is deeply in love with Richie and has been for a couple of years. Even when he was with his girlfriend, but being the good friend she has never once betrayed that friendship or crossed the line. In fact Richie hasn't a clue how Keri feels about him.
A daily struggle for her since they work together she has watch Richie go through hell and back. Now finally pulling it together and ready to start dating again. Richie knows that he isn't looking for anything serious, even though a couple of women that he works with don't seem to get the hint and come onto him a little in your face and way too strong for his liking.
Then there is his brother who has decided to come back into town and ask him for yet another chance at a job. Not even realizing that he is becoming jealous of Keri and his brother, shocking to him that maybe he has had feelings for her all long??
I have to admit, six months seems a little short for morning a long time love, but it actually made a little more sense to be with the fact that this isn't a new relationship between Richie and Keri, as they have known each other for a few years and work together. There is an established relationship, albeit friendship at the beginning of the story it seemed a natural progression for the two. Their closeness and attraction was palpable and on fire, I loved watching it just click for Richie...... whoa, Keri, Richie struggles to overcome his confusion over what he wants! His best pal, the shock to lust was quick, but these two were holding feelings deep down for each other for some time. What I also liked is that from the cover I can only assume that Keri is black, and the author really never alluded to that, because when it comes down to the nitty gritty, love is love, all shapes, sizes and color, it is blind and it is beautiful. A sweet ending for Keri and Richie, deliciously angsty and totally hot story in this fast-paced, emotional, and very steamy read. Loved it!!!
Why them and not her? Keri Walker thought about those simple little words ever since her boss' fiancTe left him. There wasn't a doubt in her mind she would be so much better for Richie if he only let her in. Richie Davidson was devastated by the sudden loss of the woman he had been building a future with. Women were coming from left to right offering him comfort, but he wasn't interested in them. Because one unique beauty not seated ten feet outside his office door had already caught his eye.

Some people can't be alone. They need a relationship.
April 6, 2010 12:17 PMYes six months is short, but not in some ways.
I have a friend who's mom passed away who had been married for 30+ years, and the husband started dating two months later. He was the type that didn't or couldn't be alone. Some of the kids were not happy and some were okay with it. He has been with this new lady for over a year now.
