Review: Life Without Raine by Riley Ashford

I have to say I just love a fun fast read! And Life Without Raine by Riley Ashford is no exception! Raine's love and husband Conner is about to break her heart in two, but what she doesn't know is that he has been informed of his death and he wants to save her life, re-connecting in the future for eternal happiness together.

Problem being when Raine's grandmother is a very powerful witch who has granted him a spell, the opportunity to re-unite with Raine in the future, but he must now make her believe she is lacking and not important to him. He wants her to leave the castle to save her life. Too late, their fates are already written and they will suffer.

Now 800 years later he has finally found Raine again, she is an American and he has convinced her that she is to inherit a castle and he is just a barrister Michael Conner.

All is not what it seems, immediately once Raine arrives she is thrown back into the body of her former self centuries ago, Raine, in love with Conner her husband. Their encounters are on fire, but Conner/Michael's conscience is niggling him, he knows that he must tell Raine the truth of their past lives and the honest truth of the ritual he has told her she must go through to transfer ownership over to her.

Now the old Raine is feisty and sassy, I loved her spark and her desire for her husband Conner was more than evident in every word she spoke and every action she took. The new Raine, the 21st Century girl is a little more hesitant, growing up and feeling alone in America she doesn't understand the "blackouts" she is having, she feels an immediate attraction towards Michael but has no idea why until her past and her present start to converge.

Michael/Conner, I couldn't help but love him and feel his struggle to keep his wife and his love alive. So many years searching for Raine through time only to now, 800 years later have the opportunity to finally be with her for the rest of their lives and lift the spell. What Michael doesn't realize is that his actions all those years ago affected not only him, but the lives of those around him, spiraling the past towards the future for an ultimate blow-out! Only in the end will he realize if it was all worth it!!

Raine Sinclair can’t believe she’s inherited a castle. She’s an American, after all, and has no need for an ancient pile of crumbling stone. After six months of communication with the English barrister handling the estate, she receives a mysterious note telling her she must come to England before the next full moon to claim her inheritance.
Michael Connors is NOT what she pictured as a barrister. Too handsome and sexy for her peace of mind, he could melt her underwear with just one look. Too bad the poor insane man thinks they were married in a previous life.
To receive the property and promised wealth Raine must face unexpected danger, a crazy housekeeper, a jealous rival, and above all, a man who believes he’s loved her for more than eight hundred years…and says he can’t bear to live another life

Sounds like an interesting story. Witches, spells, past lives, enemies - what's not to like?

About Me

Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
