Problem being that Charley suffers from massive panic attacks that have cost her everything, including her reputation. Quite frankly considered a joke in the industry. But these aren’t just any panic attacks she is having they are memories of her past.
Dr. Alistair Kincaid has some serious issues, two women who he wishes would just get out of his life and his dig. First there is Charley who he can’t help but be attracted to as much as it pisses him off. And the second is his ex wife Leila, the same woman he gave his heart to leave him for another man after all but destroying his reputation. Now she is back for round two, and to steal Alistair’s discovery of the Olmec Civilization and take all the credit. There are some evil forces running amuck and one is Felipe the other Leila, who has tried to sabotage the dig and ruin Alistair once again.
I have to say that once it got going the story was more faced paced than I expected, when starting the book it lulled quite a bit for me but made a nice recovery. I enjoyed the suspense and drama in finding out who exactly or what kind of evil force was wreaking havoc at the Mexican Dig site. Especially Charley, her character stayed with me because of her utter endurance especially dealing with the all the drama she had going in her life, she kept her chin up and powered through.
Despite baffling panic attacks that devastated her career, journalist Charley Underhill barges in on a Mexican archaeological dig, bent on sniffing out a juicy exposé that will restore her reputation and earn enough money for her mother’s life-saving treatment.
Haunted by past betrayals, Dr. Alistair Kincaid isn't about to let a smart-mouthed reporter leak word of his latest discovery, an ancient Olmec city, to the press.
A battle of wills and wits ensues. Strands from a past life intertwine with the present, drawing the couple into a vortex of chilling evil. Torn between redeeming her soul and betraying the man she loves, Charley faces impossible choices

That sounds like an interesting book, but I am not sure if it is something I would like or not. If a book starts out slow, it's hard for me to get into it. I just had a book that I started, got into it about 57 pages and it just wasn't doing anything for me, so I will leave it on my to read list but just read it later.
