DANCE WITH DECEPTION from Tracy Goodwin

DANCE WITH DECEPTION from Tracy Goodwin was utterly fantastic! What a gem! An outstanding Historical Romance with drama and passion this story explodes from the pages as two childhood friends meet once again years later and all grown up. Sebastian is the Duke of Davenport and a highly sight after commodity with the single ladies and their mothers, but he has no plans to ever marry. Although he knows that it is his duty to produce an heir the thought sickens him. His father was a philandering man, many women for many many years. In seeing the hurt and pain his father brought to their family he knew that marriage was never for him.

Until he ran into the delightfully charming and I must say pleasantly witty Gwen McAllistair. Guilted into a dutiful daughter she has done everything she can not to upset her father who has just informed her that he was dying. Not just that but his dying wish is to see her married. In particular to a certain Scottish Earl. Keir is just as evil as her father in my opinion; you can feel their malice reaching out for you from the written page. Something fishy is going one and because she feels it is her duty to obey her father, she must comply no matter to her own happiness. It is the 19th century after all, a woman has no rights in the 1800’s England and she has been made aware of that her entire life.

The immediate banter between Gwen and Sebastian is refreshing and funny; no matter the situation Gwen seems to have an incredibly addictive spark to her personality. Although she has no rights, she is not week. Spending time with Sebastian has opened her heart, they are in love, but facing her father and telling him that she will not marry him causes more problems for everyone.

Her father’s plot to see her married to Keir and underlying deception has Sebastian telling his own lies to ensure that her father has no choice but to see Gwen and himself married as soon as possible. But the evil man has no feelings for his own daughter and is determined NOT to loose. Which means that there will be pain and heartache for Gwen and Sebastian at the hands of her father. Unforgivable acts.

Their love is tested, lies and deceit, old family affairs and the reason her eldest brother Colin has disappeared from their lives will all be reviled. This story took so many twist and turns, an exhilarating roller coaster ride that I didn’t want to get off of. Gwen and Sebastian’s romance was completely beguiling, never missing a beat with drama and passion. Tracy Goodwin magically transports the reader into this sexy historical with such richness and depth that can only leave you eager for the next story. Such delightful and beloved characters it is difficult not to earn for more! Hands down brilliantly lovely!

Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
