Review: The Dream House Visions and Nightmares by Victoria Roder

The Dream House Visions and Nightmares by Victoria Roder gave me the chills, one of those books you couldn't put down because it was just bugging you.... what is going on and how is this going to end!!!!
This is the story of Hope Graham who is being plagued for the last few months with dreams, oh let's call them what they are .... NIGHTMARES. Horrible, terrifying nightmares that my skin crawl. You know the feeling you get when watching a scary movie and you are waiting for the Boogie Man to jump out and kill the girl.... yes, that kind of feeling. You didn't know when or how, but you knew, you just knew he was coming for her. That is how I felt the entire time reading this book. And I loved every minute of it. Even if it did force me to read with all the lights on in the house.Hope is a divorced mom with a 10 year old son and decides that since these dreams are just about making her mad and truly insane that she will go to her childhood hometown and face the source of the dreams, her old house. For some reason these dreams are so deeply disturbing with a woman in a bloody nightgown, stepping on bones and all the blood.... something bad happened in that house, something horrible. And it will eat away at Hope until she is completely insane. What did I like about this story, it freaked me out! Completely and utterly scared me, you have ghosts and with these disturbing dreams and downright authentic characters .... I thought this Hope.... she could be any one of us. I was really able to bond with Hope as she was levelheaded and completely rational and practical woman who was experiencing some pretty phenomenal things. Engrossing mystery and suspense, fun, true to life characters, a wonderful love story to always complicate the smallest of lives. I couldn't get enough!

Book Junkie's Rating: 4.5/5

A murder mystery wrapped in a ghost story. Re-occurring dreams taunt Hope Graham's nights with dreams of a woman in a bloody nightgown pleading for help. In an attempt to end the agony of dream sequences consisting of children metamorphosing into rats, blood spewing out of windows, and walking across decaying bones, Hope discovers that the dreams foretell of sins of the past and warn of danger in the present. Hope travels to her hometown of Sheboygan, Wisconsin to discover that the truth can be more frightening than nightmares

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
