Review: Dead Men Get No Tail by Misty Malone

Although the title may throw you off, Dead Men Get No Tail by Misty Malone this this is actually a pretty humorous love story of two roommates who secretly desire each other but have no idea the other feels the same. This is the story of college roommates Jack and Clay, two best friends who's desires are about to be exposed in the most interesting of ways. Jack has decided that he is going to go out with a bang his last year in college. So, what would be funnier or more memorable than faking his own funeral? Of course he has a one track mind and has even convinced their other friends into building the coffin. In the meantime Clay is beside himself at Jack's half brained idea. And frankly I agreed with him that Jack's idea or plan for his own funeral was a bit egotistical. Disturbed by what Jack is doing as well as all the feelings he has held for him for so long finally coming to a head, Clay accepts an offer from a fellow student to have sex. He is convinced that if he has sex with her, everything will be alright. Actually he is looking just to prove it to himself. I found his struggle to admit that he was gay endearing. Even when things don't work out between him and the girl, he is more mortified that she called him gay. He has to learn to come to terms with who he is and the friend he has fallen for. The laughter came between all the angst and hjinx between Jack, Clay and all their friends, especially when the funeral goes horribly array.

Clay Parkinson has a big problem. He doesn't understand why he's having erotic dreams and tempting thoughts about his best friend, Jack, especially since Clay is straight. Or so he tries to convince himself.
Worried about not leaving a legacy after graduation, Jack plans a fake funeral so he can enjoy the accolades while still alive. Clay can't figure out why he hates the idea so much, until he begins to think it might be because he's accidentally fallen in love his with best friend. Desire fighting against common sense, Clay will do anything it takes--including a date with the class dominatrix, his first visit to an adult toy shop, and a book about the Ins and Outs of sex--to figure out what he wants, who he wants, and, eventually, how to get him.

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
