Review & Contest: Scarlet Woman by Shelley Munro

Loving those shifters? Well if you haven't read Shelley Munro's Middlemarch Mates Series, Book 1 Scarlet Woman then you are in for a wickedly sinful treat! I was captivated just after the first few pages immediatly felt a connection to the characters, which for me is key when reading a book. I want to in the story, a fly on the wall watching all the drama unfold, not to mention buzzing around the ceiling for all those curl your toes love scenes. Emily's husband was out of the door, leaving her for his secretary when he died in a car accident. But 6 months later Emily finds herself in Middlemarch at a dance and one of the many women on the Love Train. Middlemarch is in need to women for it's over population of single men who happen to be shifters, panther shifters. All sexy as hell and looking for a mate. Not ready to commit but looking for a little love action Emily is entranced by the eldest of a group of shifter brothers Saber. Don't you just love that name. Saber can't take his eyes off Emily or his hands, and before long in his bed. Several things wrong with this picture, for one Emily, despite her strong attraction and sudden feelings towards Saber is afraid to trust another man again and give her heart. Her body yes, but not her heart. Two, Saber and his brothers are shifters and he tries desperately to hide this fact and that Emily is his true mate, he wants her to make her own choice, not feel tied to him because he marks her. Three, there is a new reporter in town determined to expose the shifters to the world. And Three Emily's best friend is her sister in law, who is disgusted with Emily for betraying her brother so quickly after his death. She believes 100% that he was a good husband to Emily and that she is now just a whore out for a good time. Through all these dramas we have Emily and Saber's love for each other that shines through. And without trust you can't have true love, a lesson they both must learn. Shelley Munro doesn't disappoint in book 1 of the Middlemarch Mates series and just wets your pallet for more as you get to know the other brothers and side characters just enough to be curious and anxious to continue on with the series and learn about their stories as well. I for one can't wait!

Book Junkie's Rating: 4.5/5

Emily Scarlet’s husband left her for his secretary and died in a car accident—all on the same day. Now, six months later, Emily has emerged from her chrysalis of painful memories. And to prove she has what it takes to attract a man, she’s determined to experience one perfect night of passion.
Feline shape shifter, Saber Mitchell has a problem with his four boisterous younger brothers. They’re out of control. It’s too late for him, but he hopes to get his brothers mated and settled, and the ball is the place to introduce them to marriageable women.
Unbridled sex is the last thing he plans on, but one glimpse of Emily Scarlet changes his mind. Sex with her is a necessity. They dance. They make love.
One thing is clear—a single night isn’t enough. Saber must have her for his mate, but Emily isn’t so easy to convince…or trust.

I've only read a couple shifter novellas in anthologies. They are an interesting variation in the romance genre.

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
