ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Laurel McKee is the pen name for regency romance writer Amanda McCabe.
Amanda wrote her first romance at the age of sixteen--a vast historical epic starring all her friends as the characters, written secretly during algebra class (and her parents wondered why math was not her strongest subject...)
She's never since used algebra, but her books have been nominated for many awards, including the RITA Award, the Romantic Times BOOKReviews Reviewers' Choice Award, the Booksellers Best, the National Readers Choice Award, and the Holt Medallion. She lives in Oklahoma with a menagerie of two cats, a Pug, and a very bossy miniature Poodle, along with far too many books.
When not writing or reading, she loves taking dance classes, collecting cheesy travel souvenirs, and watching the Food Network--even though she doesn't cook.

I love reading the Regency period because I'm able to read about how the hero/heroine breaks the social norms to come together.

My favorite historical romances are westerns but it's time to branch out since westerns are no longer plentiful.
February 10, 2010 9:27 AMMy favorite books are historical westerns. The are becoming scarce so I should broaden my horizons.

I love two time periods, the Regency and the latter part of the Victorian era (1890s). I'm not sure what it is, but i just seem to have an affinity for them both, especially the Regency.

+1 I love the Regency period because of the clothing and being at many social events of the season. Plus, the pants men wore back then were very snug--hence lots of fun ogling.

I love every period in history, but if I have to choose one it would be the Elizabethan era. I am just fascinated by all of the scandals and all of the interesting things that happened during that time period. And the events that occurred just because a woman was on the throne...I can read anything during this time.
February 10, 2010 5:54 PMI like the Regency period. I'm fascinated by the social customs during that time.

I absolutely love historical novels...Maybe because the older I get the more I appreciate what my ancestors did to win my freedom...or...Maybe because I feel guilty for not liking my history classes in High School...Whatever the reason, I'm loving my historical novels and the wonderful history they describe.
February 12, 2010 1:19 AMAs a side note....If my history teacher would have told me that Ben Franklin bathed nude daily for half hour because he thought it was healthy to let your skin breathe....I think I would have paid much more attention to my history lessons!!! Hehehe.
I love historicals, the Victorian era is the one I'm most familiar with but any period with gorgeous gowns and handsome men and I'm a goner.
