I am a Shelli Stevens fan and knew that this was going to be a great fast read for me. I wasn’t disappointed. Dangerous Grounds is book four and the latest release in The Seattle Steam Series. I thought this book for one was funny. Madison is truly a nutcase in my book, but lovable all the same. She is a spoiled woman who just opened her own espresso shop (Ooo La Latté- love it!), where I find the humor is that she hasn’t made a cup of coffee in her life (at least not a drinkable one!), she just likes to drink it! Now, who could blame a girl for trying, but while she was in Italy working in a coffee shop she wasn’t actually making the intoxicating brew, so she recruited a Barista, Sarah, to do it all for her. She is all grown up and ready to start her business but days after she first opens when she is robbed by a serial thief out to hit all the coffee shops in the Seattle area. This is where the sexy Gabe comes in. Gabe is Madison’s brother Eric’s best friend and we all know what that means, he has the hots for the all grown up Madison but has vowed to stay away from her out of respect for his friendship with. He dilemma, he just can't keep his hands off her, and to keep her safe since the thief took her wallet and now knows where she lives is for her to move in with him. And we all know what that means, some hot, steamy sex. And it is oh so delicious, I really liked Gabe and Maddie together, although her being so brazen at times was slightly annoying, I didn't dislike her in the least. Maddie has a dark secret, but the stunner is, she can't remember, all she knows is that she has a fear of trunks, she won't even open hers on her own car! As the thief works his way into Maddie's life and finds her, Gabe is no where to be found Maddie believes. He has left her alone to fend off the their who is now working his way to a murderer if he has his way. Maddie feels abandoned by Gabe when she needed him most and in turn abandons him. Gabe is so torn it breaks your heart, but he doesn't understand the trauma that she experienced and how her past fear has caught up to her. She retreats back to the safety of her parents coddling arms. I have to say this was an excellent read for me, I do enjoy the main characters having to work for trust and love over many many misunderstandings and miscommunication. It is almost like it makes it all worth it in the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed Melissa Lopez's 3rd installment of the Thorne Brothers, True Blue Love ending with Miller Thorne. I found him really the most interesting and complex if the three brothers throughout the series. Miller Thorne is the 3rd brother and the eldest not to mention the most bitter brother who is a bush pilot and about to encounter a sharp and witty young American who is only interested in his body..... well, at first that it. He had a lost love in his youth a betrayal of being left at the alter, literally by his fiancé only for her to re-unite with his younger brother with their child in tow. The man has just had a bad decade or two, but when he is seating on a flight next two a beautiful young American all that is about to change. Kaycee Hallenbeck throws caution to the wind and propositions the sexy Miller Throne to a one night stand. No names, no history just sex, sex sex and a little more sex on the side. After all she has left the states for Australia to start a new life as a nurse for one year. The problem? One night turns into two, turns into three and before you know it Miller and Kaycee are actually enjoying each other’s company outside the bedroom as well. When Kaycee is scammed on her flight to the outback where she is to start work, Miller being a bush pilot comes to the rescue. Their chemistry is great, I felt that Miller although being burned a few times had locked his heart away; Kaycee slowly begins to chip at all those walls he has put up. He even takes her home to stay at his Station while her apartment is being fixed up. Of course his mother attempts to stay out of his business as much as possible I did find her bit parts in this 3rd book charming and realistic. Kaycee thinks she is free of her past and her abusive husband, he is dead after all or is he really? This book took a turn I wasn’t expecting and was pleasantly surprised to have little who done it at the end. It is a fun adventure with Miller and Kaycee while you travel with them on all the ups and downs wishing for Miller to just give love one more chance and Kaycee finally being able to let go of her past.

Oh Diana, how I love thee..... OK, so twice in my love affair with Diana Palmer have I been utterly disappointed. But the good outweighs the bad in my obsessive compulsion to eventually read every Diana Palmer book out there..... wishful thinking right! So......... I digress and will get on with my review of FEARLESS by Diana Palmer. I adored it! That simple, classic DP as far as I am concerned with a sexy angry hero, a virgin (well sort of in this case) heroin and a love hate relationship that bounces back and forth between them throughout the book. Our leading man in this case is non other than Rodrigo Ramirez (first seen in Outsider) a DEA Agent who is undercover as a ranch foreman trying to bust a Fuentes an ruthless drug lord. Who BTW is the same drug lord that is out forGloryanne Barnes's head, laterally. She is the smart and quick witted ADA who is first hand a witness to Fuentes's evil. Growing up with an abusive mother, a father who was in killed in prison, taken into foster care only to be further abused by her foster brothers, Glory has beat the odds throughout her life to become a strongsuccessful woman. Not the normal weaker heroin that DP usually pens in her books. Glory is taken under the wing of her step brother and placed as acaner on his truck farm helping out Consuelo around the house and with the canning of the new fruit line. She is to lay under the radar long enough for them to locate Fuentes and bring him to trial. Day by day Rodrigo is indifferent if not mean to Glory for no other reason but to mask his own pain. He was and still is in love with his former partner Sarina Lane and Glory looks just like her with her flowingblond hair. But as his attraction grows for Glory he seduces her and comes to her bed. Rodrigo squashes his attraction to Glory once again but can't keep his hands off of her as time progresses. He believes her to be a simple minded creature, although she is just playing the part to keep her identity a secret, an uneducated woman who would never fit into his world. Boy little does Rodrigo know, which is so classic DP with her alpha males so blinded by their own thoughts and personal hang-ups (in this case Sarina and his simple minded lover),that they are missing out on really seeing whattruly matters. True love. There is a mystery as Glory finds out that Fuentes has put a hit out on her, not to her surprise but who accept the job was a little shocker. Through all the drama and all Rodrigo and Glories issues, which are many, he finds out her trueidentity , but not before he has made some critical errors. Can he recover Glory's trust.......hum, I sense some major groveling. Which makes this book interesting as Rodrigo and Glory find their path together it was fun seeing some old favorites like Cash Grier and Martinez (when is that man going to find his own woman!). I love the stories ofJacobsville and although on many blogs I found that a lot of folks didn't like this latest edition of DP's I found it classic it's love story, the struggles to the two main characters and the fact that no matter Glory's disabilities, which are pretty bad it in itself, she is not some weak minded simpleton. So take a risk if you are a fan, I don't think you will bedisappointed! This one is going on my Paperback swap list so I can share
SNIPPET: "Even in the wide open spaces of Texas, secrets find a place to hide...in the heart of a shy, determined woman; behind the hard, rugged exterior of a DEA agent; and in the dangerous world of drug smuggling.
Rodrigo Ramirez is sent undercover as an itinerant laborer on Gloryanne Barnes's stepbrother's farm in Jacobsville, where he's looking to bust a new and vicious cartel operating south of the border. Gloryanne is smart, savvy and fi ercely independent, but her job has put her in danger from the same criminal Rodrigo is investigating. She's drawn to the enigmatic new farmhand, Rodrigo, a man who is much more than he seems, and who stirs a desire that leaves her breathless. But secrets are about to shatter all their lives, for better, for worse...and maybe forever.
Gloryanne's sweet innocence is too much temptation for a tormented man. Confused and bitter about love, driven by his dangerous job and searching for answers, Rodrigo is not sure if his reckless offer of marriage is just a means to completing his mission—or something more. But asGloryanne's bittersweet miracle and Rodrigo's double life collide, two people learning just what it means to trust must face the truth about each other, and decide if there's a chance for the future they both secretly desire."

SNIPPET: "The Doctor Is In DeepWishful, California, is 3000 miles from Dr. Emma Sinclair's last job in a New York City ER. It may as well be another galaxy. Here, running her father's clinic for a summer, Emma treats bee stings, stomach flu, and the occasional pet cat. Plus, she has to contend with patients like Stone Wilder: gorgeous, laid-back, and irritating beyond belief. The man laughs at her. A lot. And Emma loathes him. All except that tiny part of her that wants to throw him on her examining table and break every doctor-patient rule in the book...When Stone tries to help Emma learn to loosen up a bit, he pictures white-water rafting or scenic mountain hikes. Not a mind-blowing affair that shakes them both to the core. Emma's sure she has no place in a town like Wishful, but Stone knows different. Emma belongs here—in this town, in his life. And convincing this strong-minded, stubborn, sexy woman of that fact will be a challenge no Wilder man could resist..."
A huge Welcome to Lorelei James who will be releasing her second & newest e-book in the Wild West Boys Series called MISS FIRECRAKER which will out on June 30th. To celebrate the release Lorelei was gracious enough to sit down and answer some questions about her writing & her Wild West Boys/Rough Rider series including MISS FIRECRACKER. As one of my favorite authors out there, ohhh I so love the cowboys don't you, I am honored to welcome Lorelei James as my first Guest Author. Don't forget to leave a comment answering Lorelei's question to the readers at the bottom to be entered to win a $5.00 GC to Booksonboard.com where you too can snag one of Lorelei's ebooks!
I am a fly on your wall today, what would I see in the day of Lorelei?
Up at 5:30-6:00, check email and do business/internet stuff while drinking a pot of coffee. Now that it’s summer I don’t have to take daughter #3 to school, so I go to yoga, come home and get to work. My workspace is upstairs in my bedroom on a crappy laptop with no internet access, not in my office/library where my main computer is, so I’m actually writing, not goofing around online when I’m up there.
If someone were writing a story about Lorelei, what type of word would describe you?
Lately? A workaholic. I have so many deadlines that’s all I seem to do is work. Not the intriguing answer most people expect J
How do you get started with writing a story (as in, how do you start developing the story, how do you get inspired for it).
Do you start with an outline, synopsis, characters; what is your writing process like?
These days my work is contracted and that requires some sort of synopsis, which I’ve already submitted to get the contract, so I usually know where I’m going right from the start of a book (some aspects change, however). With the Rough Riders series, I have an idea on the next story/plotline while I’m working on the current book. Or, I’ve known for several books what the plot arc will be for certain characters. My process isn’t all that glamorous and because I have deadlines I can’t wait to feel inspired
Can you tell us a little about your newest release Miss Firecracker?
Here’s the blurb/jacket copy teaser:
..She’s the match, he’s the fuse...an explosive combination
One year ago Willow Gregory entered the Miss Firecracker contest on a dare—and ended up with the crown. As a working carpenter, she’s not exactly the tears-and-tiara type, and after a year of walking the straight and narrow she’s ready to cut loose. Waking up in a sexy stranger’s bed with no memory of the havoc she wreaked the night before wasn’t quite what she had in mind. Nor was agreeing to his mandate—work for him at the tavern until she repays the damage. Or go to jail. Blake West thinks he could possibly be the only man alive who could say no to a drunken, horny, naked beauty queen. There’s something about the former Miss Firecracker that makes him want to blow his Mr. Nice Guy persona all to hell. It helps that Willow is ready to dive headfirst into a no-heartstrings-attached affair. Which fits in perfectly with Blake’s temporary gig managing his friend’s bar. Every grinding kiss, every stolen touch leads to another…until a harmless little white lie becomes the detonator that could explode their chances at a happily ever after.
The Wests and the McKays, what draws you as the author back again and again?
I like the continuity of writing connected books, so readers can get a peek into the lives of the characters who’ve already had their happily ever after, as well as a “sneak peek” at upcoming characters while they’re reading the current book. The Rough Rider series is more like a western saga, where I tell the story of one family over the course of several books and featuring different family members. I’m grateful my fab editor at Samhain Publishing is enthusiastic about letting the story unfold piece by piece and book by book.
Do you have any other books coming out this year, adding to the Rough Rider’s?
August 25th, Cam McKay’s book, Shoulda Been A Cowboy will be out as an ebook, and in November, Keely’ McKay’s book, All Jacked Up will be out as an ebook. They will be out in print form in 2010.
What books do you enjoy reading?
I tend to read paranormal romance because it’s a genre I’m not writing in, but I read pretty much across the board: male/male romance, contemporary romance, mystery, romantic suspense, some nonfiction, but I’lll admit I don’t read much historical romance.
Who are your MUST HAVE authors?
Maya Banks, JR Ward, Kresley Cole, Kelley Armstrong, JD Robb, but that’s just a few in romance. I have a whole ‘nother list for mystery.
What was the first romance book you read and how did it effect you?
I read an excerpt of a romance in Good Housekeeping when I was like twelve. It was a sweet romance, a marriage of convenience, the heroine was a virgin, the hero a total alpha male…but he wouldn’t touch her so they were married “in name only.” I was hit and miss with reading romance, I’ve always read a lot of mystery, so when I got back into reading romance in the late 1990’s, I was absolutely hooked and read everything I could get my hands on. So I guess you can say it was a delayed effect!
If you were not writing, what would you be doing?
Having a life! No, kidding, I have the best job in the world. But if I suddenly lost all my contracts and my love of writing…ack! I can’t even imagine. So I’ll go with a fantasy job…joining the police force and becoming a bad ass cop.
Do you ever write under a different name?
Yes, I write mystery—not romantic suspense—but pure medium-boiled mystery under the name Lori Armstrong. I have four books out in mass market paperback from Medallion Press in the Julie Collins series: Blood Ties, Hallowed Ground, Shallow Grave, and Snow Blind. In January 2010 I debut a new mystery series from Simon and Schuster and the first book is No Mercy.
Do you draw your characters from the personalities in South Dakota?
Absolutely. I’m a dedicated people watcher. I’ll see traits or physical characteristics of total strangers that intrigue me and I’ll write them down for future reference. But I never use a real life person as a basis for a character. It’s way more fun to make them up.
Do you use your OWN experiences?
Sometimes. Not often. My life isn’t as exciting as the fictional world I create. I’m not surrounded by hot, sexy, young cowboys 24/7, but certain events that have happened to me or someone else will stick with me and I’ll expand on them, but I can’t think of a single thing I’ve written that is 100% stolen from real life—mine or someone else’s.
For you, what is the hardest part of writing a novel? Concept, Characterization, Plotting, Writing the story, Synopsis/Query letter writing, etc.
My favorite part is editing after I get the first draft done. Writing jacket copy is my least favorite part. It is hard to condense a 70 to 100,000 word book into two or three short, pithy paragraphs that are supposed to enchant the reader into buying the book, yet, not give away key plot points.
What was your very first published work?
A short story entitled, Praying to the Porcelain God, in the Who Died in Here? Anthology, which was written under my mystery name, in which all the crimes had to be committed in the bathroom. Believe it or not, it was a dark story, not funny at all.
If you could work with any author who would it be?
Stephen King. Nora Roberts. Suzanne Brockmann. They’ve all had long, successful careers and they are all masters at plotting, creating awesome characters, penning realistic dialogue…to learn from them firsthand would be a writer’s dream.
Have you written a book you love that you have not been able to get published?
I have some great ideas that I haven’t had time to flesh out, but the old stuff I’ve written that’s collecting cyber dust in my computer files…will stay unread and dusty.
If you could ask readers any one question, what would it be?
Do you think there comes a time when a series should end? Do you keep buying a series even when it starts to show signs of wear?
***PLEASE POST A COMMENT WITH AN ANSWER TO LORELEI'S QUESTION AND YOU WILL BE ENTERED. WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN ON JUNE 30TH BY RANDOM.ORG***

SNIPPET: "When Homicide Detective Kara Gillian finds traces of arcane power on a body, she quickly realizes that this is no ordinary murder. The serial killer known as the Symbol Man is a nightmare that Beaulac, Louisiana thought had ended three years ago, but now he's back for an encore and leaving every indication on the flesh of his victims that he is well-versed in demonic lore.

As you can imagine what happens next is the sexy and not so geeky Zack & Station 5 come to the rescue, the problem is, and it is a biggie is that Cori is trapped in her car. Zack volunteers to go in and get her feeling the guilt of hitting her earlier that day, but as he saves Cori, Zack gets trapped in the car and drowns... Yes I said it, not a spoiler since it happens in the first 20 pages, he dies, actually dies, but with the temp of the water and the heroics of his team, especially Julian and Howard, Zack is brought back to life. Whew...and so the real story begins, as if that wasn't a kicker and a hell of a way to start a book off! Ok, I admit I loved it, it got my heart beating a mile a minute as I turned from page to page. As Cori and Zack fall in love and develop their relationship they or rather Zack is attacked several more times and is hurt severely each time. This guy can really take a lick'in and keep on tick'in, but there is a plot someone out in the unknown to take down Cori and Zack by association now that they are involved. I enjoyed not knowing until the end really who I main villain was, it helped turn the pages of this hot and oh so sexy read. There was a great chemistry between Cori and Zack I felt which was made solid by the end of the book. The mystery behind Cori's life choices as well as the devastation of Zack's life at the hand of a powerful and very dangerous man due to his father's debts, helps create some excited and fun twists and turns.
All of Station Five comes and goes throughout the book, Sean Tanner still an alcoholic and grieving for his lost family, Eve is Zack's best friend and doesn't fail him while trying to support him through these though times as well as Howard. Julian actually gave CPR to Zack and revived him, and although their turbulent relationship can't be called friendship there is a mutual understanding as Zack realized that Julian isn't out for the FAO position while he is out of commission. Tommy is Tommy and just looking pretty. His personality hasn't been explored as of yet but I look forward to his story. Just go out and get it, you know you wanna. And you won't be disappointed!!
Zack fights fires and saves lives, yet his own thirst for life has run dry—until he comes to the rescue of hardheaded, sharp-tongued exotic dancer Corrine Shannon, who sparks a carnal appetite that has the normally shy hero burning out of control.
But just as they are consumed by the flames of passion, they find themselves under fire from two relentless enemies with fifty million reasons to succeed. Dangerous men who will stop at nothing to get what they want, even if it means putting a permanent end to Zack and Cori’s love—or their lives. Can Zack and Cori withstand the heat, or will their newfound romance be extinguished as fast as it began?"
