Elizabeth Hoyt is fabulous! Plain and simple. In the final book in her Legend of the Four Soldiers Series, Hoyt is sheer genius in this historical romance, telling the story of Reynaud St.Aubyn and his inner struggle with so many demons trying to claim his own sanity, trying to prove that he is who he says he is ...... he is the rightful heir and long believed dead Viscount Hope. Well that makes the current Earl somewhat uneasy as that would mean that his title is no longer. That man is Beatrice Corning's uncle Reggie. Dear uncle Reggie has made friends in the political world including the ruthless Lord Hasselthorpe who has his hopes on the Prime Minister's seat. Viscount Hope was believed to be dead in the America's, after all there was said to be witnesses! So what the heck is the man doing back, and crashing into the house speaking french screaming for his father like a mad man. Besides he looks a mess with a long beard, almost like a vagabond with a tattoo on his face and an earring. Just scandalous!!
Beatrice was raised by her uncle Reggie and like a father to her she felt her loyalty for him tugging at her heart and her conscious. Why? Because Beatrice has been lusting after the handsome Reynaud for years, staring at his portrait imagining so many naughty things. And the man, all grown up and a be it a little insane is here, in the flesh. She is torn between the two men as she is the only one who sees that Reynaud is wounded, his soul is wounded and battered from so many years on captivity. He wants what is his, his birthright, his money, his property and his title. Problem is..... everyone thinks he is mad, and frankly his actions support their theories. Only Breatrice is able to see past his defenses. But as they grow closer it isn't clear if Reynauld is just using her and her innocence to his advantage. With passionate and steamy love scenes, which are always a plus in my book, Beatrice and Reynauld form a special bond. Torn between the two men she loves, her uncle and the love of her life, she is ever so charming and plays her role to a tee. Such a beautiful lady of the time, classy and innocent, daydreaming about a man and waiting for that perfect love. Now that she has found it, is she willing to fight for it, even if it costs her everything, including the relationship and love of her uncle? A fast paced read, no lagging here which I find refreshing for a historical romance, Beatrice just captured me from the beginning as I turned the pages waiting anxiously to see if these two lovers would find their HEA and how was it possible at all with all the obstacles. They captured my heart.
5 STARS- LOVED IT! COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN

SNIPPET: "NOTHING IS MORE INTOXICATING—
Reynaud St. Aubyn has spent the last seven years in hellish captivity. Now half mad with fever he bursts into his ancestral home and demands his due. Can this wild-looking man truly be the last earl’s heir, thought murdered by Indians years ago?
OR DANGEROUS—
Beatrice Corning, the niece of the present earl, is a proper English miss. But she has a secret: No real man has ever excited her more than the handsome youth in the portrait in her uncle’s home. Suddenly, that very man is here, in the flesh—and luring her into his bed.
THAN SURRENDERING TO A DEVIL.
Only Beatrice can see past Reynaud’s savagery to the noble man inside. For his part, Reynaud is drawn to this lovely lady, even as he is suspicious of her loyalty to her uncle. But can Beatrice’s love tame a man who will stop at nothing to regain his title—even if it means sacrificing her innocence?"
