Oh Sami Lee! I was so excited to read this book last Tuesday when it was released. I had just finished Chasing Sunset which I really liked but felt that something was missing. A new to me author I had looked up Sami's site when I finished to see what else she wrote. Well I will be damned if I didn't see that Sunset Knight was releasing 11/03!! I was beyond excited because I was so desperate to know what happened to Brody. At the end of Chasing Sunset Brody was left behind sort of speak. Although the story line made sense I was drawn to Brody's character. Oh those darn wounded bad boys. I tell you they always suck you in and claim a little piece of your heart. Sunset night opens with Brody back in town for at least two weeks while his best friend Drew and his new wife take their honeymoon, leaving Brody in charge of Drew's restaurant. Lana his the head waitress and an invaluable one at that, oh and the little mousy girl had been in love with Brody for three years. Catching his eye the moment he sees her, new dyed red hair, no more glasses and a little makeup. And not to mention those short short skirts, Brody is taken back that this was a quite little Lana. I have to say I loved her the moment Lana opened her mouth. She is snarky, in a take no crap, but has a heart of gold type of way. She knows what she wants and she is going after it hell or high water. That is Brody, who is more than willing to take Lana to his bed, but when that does happen he realizes that she is a virgin. Startled and a little taken back Brody tries to get rid of her if you will. He likes her, really, she is nice, beautiful and fun to be around. But this freaks him out. What is a girl to do? She propositions him for sex lessons, which was really her way to get him into bed again, maybe if she spends enough time with him and they have enough sex, maybe, just maybe he will realize he can't live without her. Brody is a playboy if you will, sleeps with A LOT of women, one night stands his is game. No attachments under no circumstances. None! Something about abandonment issues stemming from his mother leaving his so many years ago. But since the Sidney & Drew Episode he has been on a dry spell, self inflicted actually. He thought he was in love with her.... until Lana. He feel in love hard and didn't even know it. Two weeks together and some seriously steamy sex Lana wants to make Brody realize he can't live without her. Well, he does, sort of, but admitting it to her or himself, just saying it out loud.... nope, he just can't do it! The emotional breakdown Lana has as Brody and her sever ties just broke my heart in two. Here you have two people who are perfect and Brody has been so sweet and loving with her all this time Lana knows that he will never commit to her. So she is determined to be strong and move on. Brody as a character still kept his strength and his cockiness without losing heart. But what he comes to term with is that learn that life without risk, and most especially without love, is no life at all! This is Brody and Lana's story filled with love, heartbreak as Brody moves past his fear of rejection and taken a leap of faith with Lana. This is just plain delicious and captivating until the very end.
5 STARS- LOVED IT! COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN
Snippet: "Lana Green is looking for a lover. At twenty-three, she’s more than ready to shed her shyness and shake up the status quo. Lucky her, the aloof bad boy she’s always wanted to shake it with, Brody Nash, is back in town. Too bad he barely knows she’s alive. Then an unexpected kiss makes her think her days of lusting from a distance are over. Despite the fact she’s no femme fatale and has zero clue how to seduce a man, she sets out to do exactly that.
Brody hardly recognizes the alluring woman as the same gawky computer geek he left in Graceville six months ago. Lana has him spellbound, but his temporary stay in town is strictly business—running his friend’s restaurant while the man’s on his honeymoon. Brody doesn’t do relationships, and he doesn’t do permanent. But when he finds her asleep on his boat, he can’t keep his hands, or any other part of his anatomy, to himself.
Things get complicated when he discovers what he thought was a casual sexual encounter has just cured her of the one thing she wanted to get rid of—her virginity."
