Review & Giveaway Julia London's A Courtesan's Scandal

I was lucky enough to get my hands on Julia London's latest release, a final book in the Scandalous series, A Courtesan's Scandal.

This is a story of Katharine Bergeron who is now the Prince's mistress, she is young and beautiful and I found her to be very sweet and likable. A woman who knew what she needed to do to survive growing up poor and beautiful meant one thing. If you wanted to move up out of poverty your choices were limited, become a courtesan. And so she finds her self in quite a predicament. The Prince is still married and trying to get a divorce from his wife, he is a manipulative and sneaky character who only knows how to please himself. Wanting to make it look like his wife is unfaithful he must mask the fact that Kate is his and he ever so cunningly convinces his friend the Duke of Darlington, Grayson Christopher to masquerade Kate as HIS lover. None to happy with it he agrees. Despite his misgivings he can't help but notice the stunning women no matter the unpleasant and down right nasty banter the two toss back at each other. It was quite entertaining and charming the way they "hated" each other at first. But love always has a way of slapping you in the face doesn't it! And that is just what happened to Grey and Kate. It was beautiful watching them realize that they were actually falling in love with each other. Pretending to the masses that they were lovers took over their scenes and the rest was history...... not so fast though. Grey's mother find out, problem is that he is suppose to be an upstanding and respected Duke. There is an image and a reputation to uphold. Although through the book there a lot of twist and turns and some not so believable outcomes I couldn't help but absolutely adore Grey and Kate's love story. It was captivating and heartfelt and I simple loved it!

4 STARS - A PAGE TURNER, BRING ON THE SEQUEL

Blurb: "Kate Bergeron is the beautiful and mysterious former mistress of a cloth merchant...and the latest beauty to capture the interest of the Prince of Wales. Mired in a disastrous divorce, the Prince attempts to distract attention from his next amorous pursuit by ordering Grayson Christopher, the eligible Duke of Darlington, to pretend to London society that he is having the affair with Kate.
When Grayson reluctantly agrees to his Prince's demand, he finds the lady no more willing than he is. Kate will grudgingly act the part in public, but her favors are not for sale to any man.
As Grayson and Kate mimic ardor for the world to see, they find what started as a deception becoming all too real. And when passion flames into love, their predicament becomes extreme. For while marriage between a duke and a courtesan could never happen, Kate knows in her heart that she is willing to accept nothing less... "

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
