Review & Contest: Bound to Shadows by Keri Arthur

Bound to Shadows which is book eight in the Riley Jenson series by Keri Arthur and without a doubt could stand alone, a wonderful relief that you won't be lost if you pick up the latest in the series. We start out once again with Riley who is half vampire, half werewolf. Torn between her two sites that is never made so relevant than in this latest tale of the Guardian Heroine who is not only on the hunt for one sick serial killer but torn apart from the inside out between her heart, her soul mate and her head. Right and wrong have never been so evident but the lines are blurred as we open with lovers Quinn (full Vamp) and Riley have been spending the last six months together. Only together exclusively. Which is a blow when the power of Riley's were side start to rise for Kye, a werewolf and her soul mate. Kye is a ruthless bastard, and that is being nice. As the story develops Kye's personality or rather evil and sinister and maniacal actions and behavior, mostly heartless, makes itself so present I couldn't help but hate the guy. Thing is he is sexy as hell and thought the story I think the evil guy really starts to feel more than a sense of ownership toward Riley, or is it that magnetic and seriously steamy, sizzle your panties sexuality. Why are all the bad guys so darn sexy!!! He isn't willing to share her with and he wants to control Riley through their soul mate bond. I wanted to scream Riley don't do it, don't fall for him.....but the selfish werewolf is aware of his ice cold nature that the fact that he will never have Riley's heart, that belongs to Quinn. Riley really captured me in this high impact venture, not only the love story with two sexy men or werewolf and vampire, but our busy girl has her hands full with a serial killer who is leaving headless bodies behind. Human bodies as well as a slue of women being killed. This story has so many twists and turns and a surprising ending that literally shocked me. Enough to read that last chapter again..... I was torn because when you lose a character that is loved and of the caliber this one was it really rocks your world. But just like life, things don't always have a happy ending. We lose people all the time and it isn't always pretty. But with all that being said, I was kind of happy. For the reasons that I just don't want my endings tied up with a pretty little bow ALL the time. I am hanging on the edge of my seat for the next Riley adventure.
