Review: Chasing Sunset by Sami Lee

Chasing Sunset by Sami Lee was for me one of those reads that was pure impulse. I wanted a great short story to read one night and just needed a break. What I got was a bit of a sad story about a menage gone wrong. I think that sometimes you read about a menages and there are one of two endings: 1. The threesome works for all parties and they live HEA or 2. The third leaves, two stay together and all are friends and everyone still gets their HEA in the end. But sometimes not all ends well and in Chasing Sunset in my opinion that is just what happened. Sidney and Drew are together and happy as can be, but Drew wants to offer Sidney something more in their sex life, he knows she would be willing so he brings his best friend Brody into the mix. He knows that Sidney is attracted to him so the sexual desire is all there, now for the trust factor, and we can all see it coming. Brody is a good guy, walking sex and not to mention charming to boot! So when Sidney finally accepts the terms and things start to get hot and heavy between the three you can just see the HEA coming. But not so fast! Emotions run too high and before you know it jealousy and just plain confusion of feelings and betrayal start to take over. I adored Drew for all his raw feelings in realizing that he may have made a serious error in judgement by bringing Brody into the mix with him and Sidney. To watch him fall about and be so vulnerable just made it all the more real for me. Sidney, hum, I didn't dislike her, but there was something about her character that niggled me. I just felt she should have been a much stronger character. Not to say I didn't like her, I did, I just didn't love her. Who did I fall in love with.... Brody. The ultimate playboy who doesn't do commitment, something about him whispered broken man to me. What is it about those darn bad boys that draws us in! Regardless I thought all in all it was a good read and I yearned to know Brody's story because frankly I like of liked him with Sidney not Drew! So if I had to choose one thing to didn't make me happy that would be it. But with that being said, Sami Lee has just released Sunset Knight as of yesterday which is Brody's story. I can't wait to read this as I know she will do him justice and Brody too will find his own HEA!

3 STARS- LIKE EATING ONE CHIP, LEAVES YOU LONGING FOR MORE, WOULD STILL RECOMMEND

Synopsis: "After an unsettled childhood, Sidney McCall has finally found a home in Graceville. This dream town comes with a dream boyfriend. Drew Buchanan is charming, romantic, completely devoted to her—and he cooks! Now if only the whole commitment thing didn’t give her night sweats…
Drew, a professional chef, wants nothing more than to give Sidney everything she’s ever dreamed of, both in and out of bed. Even if it means serving up her most secret wish complete with a whipped-cream topping: a tryst with two men. His best friend Brody Nash is the missing ingredient, and the only man he trusts with the woman he loves.
What starts out as a little harmless sexual play quickly boils over into something none of them expected. An emotional minefield that could forever change the course of their lives. "

Thanks so much for taking the time to read the novella Brande, I enjoyed your well thought out comments.

Love your 'about me' piece as well. We share the same addictions.

Cheers,
Sami

About Me

My Photo
Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
