Review: WILD, TETHERED, BOUND by Stephanie Draven

I have to say I was thrilled with Stephanie Draven asked me to read her latest WILD, TETHERED, BOUND which is a Silhouette Nocturne release from Harlequin. Why you ask? Well let me tell you that I am a paranormal freak. Now I know I don't always review that many but as I just started with paranormal and paranormal romances about 2 years ago I have been on a reading frenzy sorta speak. And frankly some of them have just pain stunk! But, and that is a big BUT, WILD, TETHERED, BOUND, well it rocks! I loved Stephanie's concept of the beautiful and almost ethereal Dryad, Dessa who is seeking her mate while protecting the forest and all it's creatures in the fast and super sexy read where supernatural elements intertwine with the sexy Lieutenant Nick Leandros who himself is more than scarred, he is in the middle of a war fighting in Afghanistan and it's not just his body that is wounded, it is his soul. Through mystical forces Nick's body is fractured into 3 parts, he is a Chimera, a mythological being who has taken advantage of the split but doesn't understand what it is doing to his soul until it is almost too late. Through the war Dessa leaves her forest as it has all but been decimated, and feeling like she has failed her life's purpose as a Dryad and protector she ends up in Vegas as a Hotel/Casino Manager of all things only finding solace with her quite walks in what little nature the hotel has to offer, that is until she finds Nick running from hotel security and spit into his three selves. Through the years apart Nick left a since of loss after going AWOL in Afghanistan not able to reconcile the death and destruction he feels he is responsible for, and the only connection to life was with Dessa. Although he didn't know why or understand any of it and was consumed with his town hurt, Dessa's reappearance into his life sparks something in Nick. He is alive again, well somewhat, and all she wants to do is help him heal his broken soul before he loses himself and is factured forever, oh and she wants his baby too! The chemistry between the two is absolutely electric and fascinating as fantasy conjoins with myth through Nick and Dessa transporting you into their world. Sharing one night together is all Dessa needs from Nick, but it is her heart that she has left behind when they separate. Dessa back to her forest and Nick off to face his reality and pay his penance for going AWOL. Can he make it back to Dessa, his heart aches for her, their bond has been forged and once again they are separated by years as Nick finally comes to some semblance of peace with his past. You will be captivated by Nick and Dessa as their journey starts out with pain and loss and ends with love.

4 STARS - A PAGE TURNER, BRING ON THE SEQUEL

SNIPPET: "Lieutenant NICK LEANDROS is a battle-hardened American soldier who thinks he’s seen everything. But nothing prepared him for the horrors he encounters when he’s separated from his patrol in a dark war-torn forest. What he sees there fractures him–body and soul. Split into three separate men with three savage wills, he struggles to tame the cunning creatures and hold them inside. His only hope of salvation is DESSA, an ancient dryad who lost her Heart Tree on that war-ravaged day. Without a forest to guard, Dessa is bound to Nick by mystic forces and she alone understands the nature of the chimera that he’s become. She also knows that Nick is the only man who can give her the child she’s longed for and the only man who can ensure the future of her country. But the cruelest, most lustful, part of him demands her submission as the price for his help and with her powers waning every day, time is running out for Dessa to save the last forests of Afghanistan…and to heal the man she’s come to love."

About Me

Brande
I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
