Review: Afterburn by Kira Sinclair

AFTERBURN is the May release of Harlequin's Unifomaly Hot series by Kira Sinclair, which I love BTW! This is the story of Sabrina (Rina) McAllister and that sexy man on the cover is Air Force Major Chase "Magnet/Chic Magnet" Cardin.
Three days before being sent off to Iraq Chase joins his buddy's at a Las Vegas Bar where they are stationed, while feeling a little depressed he spies Rina, the beautiful blonde at the end of the bar, not only is she hot, but Chase and Rina have a past. They had met six years ago right after Rina graduated from the academy, and although they has some sizzling hot chemistry going, nothing happened. Much to his disappointment. This was a fun read, I finished it in a couple of hours last night and I have to say there were some really funny parts, like the "dummy wedding" by Elivs and some drama. The drama supplied by mentally disturbed father of a dead soldier. The story kicks off with that "dummy wedding" and hops to eleven months later when Chase comes home to become apart of the Thunderbirds and receive a Presidential Accommodation for his "heroics" saving a politician. Chase is haunted by the fact that several serviceman/woman died while he chose to save the politician, and feels unworthy of the celebration. Rina chooses to wait for the right time to tell him that they are actually married for real, much to the shock of Chase. I liked Chase all in all and thought that he was macho enough, but also caring and gentle with Rina, which is nice not to read about the hero bulldozing his lady! A quick, fun, sometimes funny with a little drama from a grieving father made for an enjoyable read!
"Before Chase shipped out, he and Rina enjoyed a sizzling night in Vegas, topping it off with a tacky mock wedding. It was a one-shot deal for both of them. Or so they thought…. Because when Chase comes home, he learns that he's very legally hitched to the feisty captain. And, funnily enough, it's not bothering him at all….
Their mistaken union is strictly against air force rules. There'll be hell to pay if it's discovered. But the sex is so very, very good….
Career-driven Chase knows he has to give Rina up, for both their sakes. And he'll think about it—once he has the willpower to leave her bed…."

I am a working mom with an addiction to coffee, chocolate, and books.. I read an average 3 to 4 books a week to escape reality. I have setup this site to organize my own thoughts and help others when choosing what to read. Since I can be a dimwit at times I decided to keep a record of the books I read. This record turned into reviews so I would remember if I liked the book I forgot I had read. I am not particularily funny and my grammer sucks so please don’t expect much. Basically I don’t know jack about many things, but I do know what I like in a novel and what makes me want to spend my money on an author.
